The decomposing body of an unidentified woman has reportedly been discovered along the Anamco axis of Emene in Enugu State, raising fresh concerns over security in the area.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to CoalCity Connect, residents became aware of the corpse after a strong odour emanated from the location. The body, believed to be that of a female, was said to have been abandoned for some time before it was noticed.
Residents alleged that this is the second incident in recent times involving the discovery of a corpse along the same road, describing the area as poorly lit and largely deserted, especially at night.
They expressed concern over the absence of street lighting, claiming that the dark conditions have made the road vulnerable to criminal activities, including robbery, vehicle theft, and the dumping of bodies.
The community has appealed to the Enugu State Government to install street lights and strengthen security measures along the route to curb criminal activities and improve public safety.
Residents also called on the police and other security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident, identify the deceased, and bring those responsible to justice. At the time of the report, there was no official statement from the police regarding the discovery.
