Enugu Women in Spotlight as First Lady Donates Buses, Urges Grassroots Mobilisation at Tinubu Torch Bearers Inauguration

The Tinubu Torch Bearers (TTB), a grassroots women mobilisation platform established to promote President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda and support his 2027 re-election bid, has been inaugurated at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.


The initiative, founded by the APC National Woman Leader, Hon. Dr. Mary Alile Idele (PhD), brought together the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, APC National Working Committee members, ministers, APC State Women Leaders, Zonal Women Leaders, State Coordinators and other party stakeholders.

A major highlight of the event was a meeting between the First Lady and the six Zonal Women Leaders and State Coordinators, where she donated brand-new buses to the six geopolitical zones to strengthen grassroots mobilisation. Senator Oluremi Tinubu also directed that the vehicles be registered in the personal names of the beneficiaries, describing women as critical partners in nation-building.


The South-East delegation, led by the South-East APC Zonal Woman Leader and TTB South-East Women Leader, Hon. Dr. Mrs. Oby Ajih, was among the most prominent at the event. Enugu State recorded a strong presence under the coordination of Hon. Adaeze Nonyelum Ogbu, who mobilised all seventeen local government coordinators of the movement for the inauguration.

During the event, Enugu women stakeholders commended Governor Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for strengthening Enugu's ties with the centre, noting that the state has continued to benefit from the Tinubu administration's programmes. They also praised the APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Dr. Ben Nwoye, for his leadership and key role in the successful organisation of the Tinubu Torch Bearers inauguration.

Notable Enugu dignitaries at the event included Rt. Hon. Jane Eneh, Deputy Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly; Hon. Ngozi Enih, Commissioner for Gender Affairs and Social Development; Hon. Esther Edeh, APC Woman Leader, Enugu State; Evang. Dr. Mrs. Favour Ugwuanyi, mni, Director at NIPSS, Abuja; and Hon. Amb. Mrs. Amaka Judith Nweke, JP, Member IV, Enugu State Local Government Service Commission.

Participants described the Tinubu Torch Bearers as a strategic platform for women's empowerment, political education and grassroots mobilisation, while the Enugu Chapter pledged its commitment to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.
