The General Manager of Rangers International Football Club, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, has disclosed that he will make a final decision on his future with the club within the next 21 days.
Speaking during an interactive session with members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Enugu State Chapter, Ezeaku explained that family considerations and his personal well-being would influence his decision. According to him, his wife and two children currently reside overseas, making the choice one that requires careful reflection.
"My availability as General Manager will be officially confirmed within the next 21 days. I won't be making the decision alone because I have a family, supporters, and I also have to think about my mental health," he said.
The Rangers boss, however, moved to calm speculations surrounding the future of the club's Head Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, assuring supporters that the tactician would remain with the Flying Antelopes.
"Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu remains our coach and will continue with Rangers International," Ezeaku stated.
He also revealed that a social media influencer identified as Amaechi has been barred from entering the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium over publications allegedly considered detrimental to the club and its management. He added that efforts were being made to extend the restriction to other stadiums across the country.
Ezeaku commended the Enugu State Government for rewarding Rangers players following their Nigeria Premier Football League triumph, describing Governor Peter Mbah's gesture as remarkable. He noted that each plot of land allocated to the players is valued at about ₦40 million.
On the club's transfer plans, the General Manager said Rangers intend to retain the core of their squad ahead of the new season, with only about four players expected to leave.
He further announced that Rangers have entered into a collaboration agreement with Spanish side CD Tenerife while maintaining their existing partnership with Swiss club FC Schaffhausen.
Reaffirming the club's ambitions, Ezeaku said Rangers enjoy a healthy relationship with other NPFL clubs and remain focused on achieving greater success, with the ultimate objective of winning the CAF Champions League.
