The political atmosphere in Enugu South Local Government Area was electrified on Friday, June 19, 2026, as the grassroots political movement, G-17 For Peter Mbah, stormed the council area for the massive inauguration of its Local Government and Ward Executives, further strengthening its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event, which attracted party stakeholders, political leaders, women groups, youths, community leaders, and supporters from across the thirteen political wards of the local government, reaffirmed the growing support for the re-election of the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Welcoming the high-powered delegation of G-17 For Peter Mbah on behalf of the Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Caleb Ani, the Secretary of the Local Government, Hon. Barr. Ken Nnayammah, described G-17 as one of the most grounded and strategic grassroots mobilisation structures in Enugu State.
He conveyed the chairman's appreciation to the leadership of the group for its consistency, dedication, and grassroots reach, assuring them of the council's readiness to work closely with the movement.
According to him, the chairman is particularly impressed with the unique mobilisation strategy adopted by G-17, noting that the structure has continued to penetrate communities and wards across the state in a manner capable of producing massive electoral victories.
Barr. Nnayammah declared that Enugu South remains firmly behind Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that the local government is fully committed to delivering victory for all APC candidates in 2027.
"Enugu South is APC from top to bottom. If there is any place anyone may be worried about, Enugu South should not be one of them. We are united, organised, and committed to ensuring that Governor Peter Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and all APC candidates record overwhelming victories here," he stated.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area on Political Matters, Hon. Chijioke Agbo, congratulated the newly inaugurated executives and commended the leadership of G-17 for what he described as a meticulous and credible selection process.
He observed that the calibre of individuals inaugurated into various positions demonstrated that the group deliberately chose tested, trusted, and dependable grassroots mobilisers.
According to him, the faces he saw among the executives were individuals with proven political capacity and electoral value who possess the structures and experience required to deliver victory at the polls.
"Looking at these executives, I can confidently say that these are people who understand grassroots politics. These are men and women capable of winning elections. With this structure and with the achievements of Governor Peter Mbah and the good work being done by our chairman, victory is already assured for Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Enugu South," Agbo stated.
Adding his voice, Hon. Eneh Victor, Chief of Staff to the Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District, Senator Kelvin Chizoba Chukwu, applauded G-17 For Peter Mbah for its outstanding role in grassroots mobilisation across Enugu State.
He assured the movement of the support of political stakeholders within Enugu South, emphasizing that the people of the area remain solidly behind Governor Peter Mbah's administration because of the visible transformation taking place across the state.
Addressing the women at the gathering, the National Women Leader of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Princess Chinelo Ogbata Ejorh, called on women across Enugu South to immediately obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and prepare to actively participate in the electoral process.
She noted that women and children remain the greatest beneficiaries of Governor Peter Mbah's administration, citing ongoing investments in healthcare, education, security, transportation, and social welfare.
She urged women to serve as ambassadors of the governor's achievements within their families, markets, churches, and communities, while mobilising support for his re-election.
In his keynote address, the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman and Director-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, congratulated the newly inaugurated executives and reminded them that their inauguration was not merely ceremonial but a call to duty.
He charged them to immediately commence aggressive grassroots mobilisation, political education, and door-to-door sensitisation campaigns across all communities and polling units within Enugu South Local Government Area.
According to him, the primary responsibility of the executives is to take the message of Governor Peter Mbah's achievements directly to the people and ensure that every eligible voter understands the importance of sustaining the current administration beyond 2027.
Hon. Dr. Mbah described Enugu South as one of the greatest beneficiaries of Governor Peter Mbah's transformational leadership, revealing that the local government ranks among the highest recipients of development projects across the seventeen local government areas of the state.
He highlighted the extensive road infrastructure revolution that has transformed virtually all internal roads and streets within Enugu South, noting that communities that previously suffered neglect now enjoy modern and durable road networks.
The G-17 Director-General further cited the establishment of Smart Green Schools, Type-C Primary Healthcare Centres, and other critical projects spread across the thirteen (13) political wards of the local government.
He also pointed to the ultra-modern CNG Transport Terminal in Gariki, describing it as one of the landmark projects redefining transportation and economic activities within the state capital.
"Enugu South has benefited immensely from this administration. Across all thirteen political wards, the people have witnessed unprecedented government presence. From roads to schools, healthcare facilities, transportation infrastructure, and economic empowerment programmes, the evidence is visible everywhere."
He maintained that the people of Enugu South have more than enough reasons to support the re-election of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
According to him, the South-East has witnessed unprecedented federal appointments and infrastructure attention under the current administration, including the emergence of key security chiefs and strategic federal projects across the region.
He stressed that the combined achievements of both the federal and state governments provide a strong basis for the people to support APC candidates from the presidency down to councillorship positions.
"Enugu South has 101 reasons to support Governor Peter Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and all APC candidates. The development is visible. The impact is real. The future is brighter. Our task now is to take this message to every household, every community, every ward, and every polling unit."
