The Women Support Women Community Network (WOSCONET) joined the global community in commemorating International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026, combining the celebration with its first quarter cluster meeting, a prayer session, and a focused group discussion aimed at strengthening solidarity among women and advancing advocacy for women’s rights and well-being.
Observed annually on March 8, International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women and draw attention to issues affecting their growth and safety. The 2026 global theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” calls for stronger commitment to move beyond acknowledging women’s rights on paper to ensuring that those rights are fully implemented and protected in everyday life.
In alignment with this global movement, WOSCONET organized a spiritually uplifting and reflective gathering that brought together members and supporters in an atmosphere of praise, worship, and prayer. The event served not only as a celebration but also as a platform for meaningful dialogue on issues affecting women and girls within communities.
During the meeting, participants engaged in focused discussions where several women courageously shared personal experiences, particularly on issues surrounding child abuse and other social challenges faced by women and girls. These heartfelt testimonies highlighted the urgent need for stronger community support systems, awareness, and collective action to protect vulnerable members of society.
A central message of the gathering was the 2026 IWD guiding theme, “Give to Gain.” Members were encouraged to embrace a culture of generosity, compassion, and mutual support. Speakers emphasized that even the smallest acts of kindness and assistance among women could create powerful ripple effects that uplift families and communities.
Participants were also reminded of the importance of standing firm in defense of their rights and dignity. Women were urged to prioritize their emotional, mental, and physical well-being, while avoiding toxic environments that undermine their growth and peace of mind. The session reinforced the belief that empowered women are better positioned to support one another and build stronger communities.
The event further acknowledged the presence and contributions of the network’s esteemed founder, Ambassador Mrs. Amaka Judith Nweke, JP, whose leadership and guidance continue to inspire the organization’s mission of empowering women at the grassroots level. Her remarks during the gathering emphasized unity, love, and solidarity among women, urging them to always stand together and support one another in times of need.
As part of the celebration, WOSCONET also used the occasion to congratulate its founder on her recent appointment as Women Leader of the City Boy Movement in Enugu State, describing the appointment as a recognition of her consistent dedication to women’s empowerment, grassroots mobilization, and community development.
The congratulatory message from the organization reads in full:
