Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, has concluded an impactful training program on renewable energy installation, maintenance, and marketing, empowering over 90 young people from his constituency. The initiative, which wrapped up on Saturday, was celebrated by participants and stakeholders, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
This two-week intensive Solar Photovoltaic Installer Certificate Course was organized in collaboration with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), marking a strategic move towards building sustainable livelihoods for youth. Through this program, participants received in-depth training and certification, equipping them with technical skills vital to the renewable energy sector.
Hon. Atu, addressing the trainees, emphasized the importance of fully applying the skills they acquired, stating that if properly harnessed, these skills could transform their lives and the lives of those around them. “I am deeply fulfilled that this training took place and that so many in my constituency benefited,” he said. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain skills for economic empowerment that will support your growth, help your families, and enable you to address societal challenges. It is a generational economic empowerment initiative, and it would be a disservice to both God and humanity if you let this knowledge go to waste. We invested significant resources to make this training successful, and I hope to see one of you emerge as a leading expert in renewable energy services in the coming years.”
Hon. Atu also announced plans for continued support, including creating a WhatsApp group to monitor the participants' progress and encourage accountability. “We want every one of you to succeed, and I look forward to seeing you rise as some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the field,” he added.
Representing the Director-General of NAPTIN, Alhaji Ahmed Bolaji Nagode, Assistant Chief Instructor Engr. Lemi Jonathan praised Hon. Atu for his dedication to his constituents and stressed that the training is a testament to the lawmaker’s commitment to uplifting living standards in Enugu. Engr. Jonathan also called on other political figures to emulate Hon. Atu’s approach to youth empowerment as a means to tackle unemployment.
Engr. Chris Ugwu, the program’s Chief Consultant and Managing Director/CEO of Synergy Fields Limited, commended Hon. Atu and NAPTIN for supporting his company’s involvement in the program. He encouraged participants to apply their newly gained expertise and strive to achieve excellence.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates, cash awards, and starter kits to all participants, setting them on a path toward economic independence and professional growth in the renewable energy sector.
