The Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) has issued a public notice regarding a scheduled power outage affecting various areas in Enugu. The outage is slated to take place on the 4th of November, 2023, and has been necessitated by maintenance work to be carried out by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on their T1A 150MVA Power Transformer at the New Haven Station in Enugu.
Emeka Ezeh, the Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, revealed this information in an official statement released on Friday. According to Ezeh, the maintenance work on the power transformer is crucial for the smooth operation of the electrical grid in the region.
The planned outage will impact several areas, including the Kingsway Line 1&2 33KV, New Haven 33KV, Government House 33KV, Independence Layout 33KV, and New NNPC 33KV feeders. As a result of this maintenance work, electricity supply to various communities will be temporarily interrupted.
The affected areas include parts of Emene, the entire 9th Mile and surrounding communities, New Haven, Independence Layout, Coal City Garden, GRA, Golf, areas behind the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), State CID, Okpara Avenue, Station Road, Colliery, Constitution Road, Railway/Good Shed, Western Avenue, Bank Avenue, Ridge Way, Club Road, Kingsway Way Road, Enugu Secretariat, Red Cross and Court Avenue, Abakaliki Road, Ogui Junction, Zoo Estate, Old Government Lodge, Park Lane Hospital, Fidelity Estate, Shoprite, Golden Royale, CBN Quarters, New Market, Works Road, Aguowa, Artisan Market, Asata, New Haven Market and environs, Ebeano Housing Estate, Agbani Road, Old UNTH, and surrounding areas.
EEDC acknowledges the inconvenience this planned outage will cause to its valued customers. However, the company assures residents of the affected areas that electricity supply will be promptly restored once the maintenance work is successfully completed.
