In yet another remarkable display of humanitarian commitment, the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme (GFSP) has once again succeeded in changing lives, providing critical medical assistance to four Enugu citizens. Under the stewardship of Dr. George Ajogwu, the Director-General of GFSP, this initiative has proven to be a lifeline for those in need.
Operating on August 18th, 2023, at the Chief Julius Ajogwu Memorial Hospital, the GFSP tackled severe surgical cases that had plagued the individuals. Among the beneficiaries were Bibian Ngozi Ogbu (24), who underwent a successful Right Breast Lump and Lumpectomy; Eddy Charles (68), who received treatment for Giant Lipoma through Lumpectomy; Ugwuanyi Juliana (42), benefiting from Umbilical Hernia surgery and herniorrhaphy; and young Okoro Munich Samuel (4), who underwent Right Hydrocoele of the Cord surgery, including Herniorrhaphy, Herniotomy, and Orchidopexy.
The above have summed up the number of Beneficiaries to 1,337 on the 18th of August, 2023.
The initiative was conceived and sponsored by former Governor His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, during his tenure, and has continued under his sponsorship in support of the current Governor, Barr. Peter Mbah, and Deputy Governor, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai. This enduring commitment to public health highlights the unity of purpose across gubernatorial administrations to uplift the healthcare landscape in Enugu State.
