The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC ), on Wednesday, rejected the new pricing template released by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The development followed the Federal Government’S decision to remove fuel subsidy. The Congress, in a statement by its national president, Comrade Joe Ajaero, in Abuja described the new price template as vexatious and an ambush to the  ongoing meeting of stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to manage the unilateral removal of subsidy on petroleum products by President Bola Tinubu. The organised labour also expressed worry over the development and called for immediate withdrawal of the pricing template to allow free flow of discussions by all parties. According to Ajaero, the release of the template was an effort by the government through the NNPCL to scuttle the process of dialogue. The Enugu State government has directed that all bank accounts belonging to the government be frozen with immediate effect until further notice. The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.  According to him, the directive takes effect from Tuesday, May 30, 2023. “Following the directive given by the Enugu State Governor to freeze all government accounts in all the banks in Enugu State, I hereby, direct that all Enugu State Government accounts be frozen with immediate effect, till further notice,” the statement reads.

The governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah has appointed Professor Chidiebere Onyia as the new  Secretary to the State Government (SSG). The appointment was announced in a statement personally signed by the governor on Monday and released to the press by his media office.  Until his appointment, Prof. Onyia was the Managing Director of the United Kingdom Nigeria Infrastructure Facility. He was also the Lead strategy advisor for the Federal Government of Nigeria, World Bank Group Power Sector Recovery Programme, and has over the years rendered services to different international organizations and countries, among them the United Nations, Germany and Russia. The new president of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has attracted the attention of people after he staggered and missed his way during the inauguration ceremony that held today. In the video captured by channels TV live, Tinubu was seen going towards a wrong direction on stage, and it took the intervention of his security personnel to redirect his steps. There was mild drama in after the swearing-in of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Monday. Gov Yusuf refused to sit in the official chair used by his predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje. In a viral video, the newly sworn-in governor was seen opting for an unofficial smaller seat as he prepared to give an address.
