ENUGU 2023: IWOLLO PLEDGE SUPPORT FOR PDP

The people of Iwollo ancient kingdom have assured the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) candidates of their maximum support in the forthcoming general election.


They gave the assurance during an interactive session with the candidates on Saturday, 29th October, 2022 at Sacred Heart Parish, Iwollo, Ezeagu LGA of Enugu State.


In an address on behalf of the three autonomous communities under the aegis of the Federated Iwollo Autonomous Community (FIAC), Engr. Chief Patrick Nzekwe paid glowing tribute to their illustrious son, the PDP candidate for Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Dr. F.S.A. Uzor, describing him as a shining star of Iwollo ancient kingdom and Ezeagu LGA. He thanked the guests and the State government for their kind gesture towards the community, assuring them of their continuous support of the party and all its candidates.


Chief Nzekwe stated that the community yearns for more infrastructural and human capital investments, appealing to the candidates to remember them when elected.

Flanked by his Udi LGA counterpart, Hon. Nze Philip Okoh, the Executive Chairman of Ezeagu LGA, Hon. Chukwudi Ozoeluba in his remark, thanked the guests for their supportive roles through which his administration has continued to render quality services to the people.


The former Enugu State Commissioner for Sport and Youth Development, Hon. Charles Ndukwe extolled Dr. Uzor for his exemplary leadership. He thanked the former Chief of Staff, Government House, Enugu for using his good office to influence both human and infrastructural developments in Iwollo. He described the Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency candidate for the PDP as a master of politics, stating that his vast experience in governance is a huge advantage to the region in particular, and Enugu State in general.

On the other hand, the former Commissioner expressed profound appreciation to the PDP Senatorial candidate, Engr. Osita Ngwu, RG, for his humility, patience and unwavering support to the State government, particularly, Enugu Rangers International. He recalled the crucial role played by the industrialist to the Football Club which inspired the winning of its first trophy after thirty-two years of unsuccessful outings, thereby describing him as a jinx breaker.

In the same vein, the convener of Unebuike Youths, a socio-political pressure group, described Dr. Uzor and Engr. Osita Ngwu, RG, as a philanthropist and great employer of labour respectively whose contributions to the growth and development of Enugu State is enormous. He cited unemployment as the major enabler of crime and social vices in the society, thereby appealing to the guests to engage the youths in profitable ventures that would distract them from criminal activities.

Speaking on behalf of the PDP, the Zonal Chairman of the party, Hon. Ozo. Okey Ozoani thanked the people of Iwollo for their support to the party. He expressed confidence in the capacity of the PDP candidates and sensitized the people on the need to collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and use same to reflect their support for the PDP in the ballot.

Expressing delight with the traditional rulers of the Federated Iwollo Autonomous Communities (FIAC), stakeholders and the people for coming out en mass to receive the PDP candidates, Rt. Hon. Dr. F.S.A. Uzor thanked them immensely for their steadfastness in their support of the party since the return of democracy in 1998, stating that the community is a major beneficiary of the PDP led Enugu State government.

He thanked Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, CON, for giving him and numerous Iwollo indigenes the opportunity to serve in his administration, maintaining that the community will remain loyal to the party and its leadership.


While thanking the people for their hospitality, the PDP senatorial candidate, Engr. Osita Ngwu, RG, commended them for their firm support for the party and Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi's administration. He stated that Iwollo and PDP are partners in progress, adding that the party will continue to deliver democracy dividends to the community.

He appreciated the stakeholders for their efforts during the voters card registration which saw the community record high voters registration. He further appealed to them to encourage prospective voters to collect their PVCs in the council Secretariat.

Also lending his voice, the member representing Ezeagu State constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly and a PDP candidate, Rt. Hon. Barr. Chima Obieze thanked the people for their usual support and solidarity to the party. He assured them of his resolve to work towards attracting more government presence in the community.

Delivering his vote of thanks to the guests, the PDP Chairman of Ezeagu LGA, Hon. Anayo Chiude, described Dr. Uzor as a result-oriented leader, a firm pillar of the party and a great political mentor. 

He thanked Engr. Osita Ngwu, RG, for his dedication to the party and for creating job opportunities for the people of Enugu State. He also declared their total support for all PDP candidates in the coming general elections.

Highlight of the event include; a welcome song by the pupils of Central School (CS), Iwollo; cultural dance and masquerade displays; and a presentation of gifts.

The DGs of Enugu West Campaign Council, government officials, traditional rulers, and cabinet members witnessed the event.
