The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed ₦65,198,000 to 306 students of the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji, Osun State, for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The university acknowledged the disbursement in a letter dated August 14, 2026, signed by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mufutau Olayode Atayese, who commended NELFUND for its commitment, diligence and professionalism in coordinating and disbursing student-loan funds.
According to the letter, the institution received the funds in two tranches. The first payment of ₦57,510,000, received on June 18, 2026, covered 270 students, while the second tranche of ₦7,688,000, received on July 22, 2026, benefited another 36 students.
The two payments brought the total disbursement to ₦65,198,000, covering 306 students for the academic session.
Professor Atayese expressed particular appreciation to NELFUND for ensuring that students of the newly established university benefited from the scheme despite the closure of the application portal. He noted that the Fund’s proactive approach, persistence and engagement with relevant stakeholders helped achieve a successful outcome.
The Vice-Chancellor further stated that the timely processing and disbursement of the approved funds had provided financial relief to students, strengthened their confidence in the institution and reinforced the university’s commitment to accessible, quality education.
The latest intervention, which the disbursement announcement says covers the statutory charges of all verified applicants, highlights NELFUND’s efforts to extend student-financing opportunities to eligible learners across Nigeria, including those attending newly established institutions.
For the 306 beneficiaries in Iragbiji, the support represents meaningful financial relief and an opportunity to pursue their academic programmes with reduced pressure from institutional fees.
The development further underscores the role of the Federal Government’s student-loan initiative in expanding access to higher education and helping eligible Nigerian students continue their studies with renewed hope.
