…programme offers certified training in digital skills, technology, trades and entrepreneurship

Enugu State has opened applications for 20,000 free certified training opportunities under the iDICE Skill-to-Job Training Programme, creating new pathways for young people across the state to acquire market-relevant skills linked to employment, income generation and entrepreneurship.

The programme, being promoted through the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency (Enugu SME Center), is designed to reach youths across all 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State, with applicants able to choose from three broad training pathways.

The Digital and Online Skills pathway covers areas such as Business Process Outsourcing and Customer Experience, Virtual Assistance, Digital Marketing, Data, IT Support, Software and other digital services.

The Applied Tech and Trades pathway focuses on practical and creative sectors, including Animation and Creative Production, Fashion, Leather and Footwear, Automotive, Solar and Green Technology and other technical skills.

The third pathway, Business and Entrepreneurship, provides training in Business Development, Financial Management, Sales, Digital Commerce, Market Access and Enterprise Management.

The opportunity is open to a wide range of Enugu youths, including students, graduates, job seekers, creatives, artisans and entrepreneurs, providing different entry points for those seeking to build careers, strengthen existing businesses or develop new income streams.

The programme places particular emphasis on moving beyond skills acquisition to the practical application of those skills, with the stated objective of helping participants acquire capabilities that can lead to jobs, income or sustainable businesses.

The initiative is consistent with the broader skills-development direction of the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency, which has been implementing programmes aimed at connecting young people and entrepreneurs with practical skills, certification and economic opportunities. The agency's official programmes include digital-skills and vocational initiatives designed to support employment, self-employment and enterprise growth.

For Enugu youths, the 20,000 training opportunities provide a chance to acquire skills in some of the sectors increasingly shaping the modern economy, from digital services and software to creative production, renewable energy, technical trades and business management.
