The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has acknowledged the receipt of ₦21.54 million in additional disbursements from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for students enrolled in the 2025/2026 academic session.
The university said the funds, totalling ₦21,540,800, were provided for 226 student beneficiaries and were received in two separate tranches on July 24, 2026.
The first tranche of ₦19,118,700 covered 200 students, while the second payment of ₦2,422,100 was made for 26 students.
In a letter addressed to the Managing Director of NELFUND and dated August 3, 2026, the University's Registrar, Bimpe Omoyiwola, fcpm, formally acknowledged the payments and conveyed the appreciation of the university management and beneficiaries.
According to the university, the intervention provides important financial support for students by helping to make tertiary education more affordable and accessible.
UNIBEN also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and strict compliance with NELFUND's operational guidelines in administering the funds.
The latest disbursement further demonstrates the expanding role of the Federal Government's student loan initiative in reducing financial barriers to higher education and helping beneficiaries pursue their studies with greater financial stability.
