Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has appointed new chairmen and members of the governing councils of four key state-owned tertiary institutions: the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwollo, and Enugu State College of Education, Technical (ESCET).

The appointments form part of a fresh round of changes across key state institutions aimed at strengthening governance, improving administration and deepening ongoing institutional reforms.

Key appointments include:

  • ESUT: Barr. Victor Chukwuani — Chairman, Governing Council.
  • IMT: Hon. Chinedu Onu — Chairman, Governing Council.
  • Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwollo: Deaconess Ifeoma Nwobodo — Chairman, Governing Council.
  • Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwollo: Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Aniagboso Igwe — Rector.
  • ESCET: Barr. Nwabueze Ugwu — Chairman, Governing Council.

Governor Mbah also approved appointments to the Enugu State Civil Service Commission and the state’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) body.

Civil Service Commission:

  • Prof. Gabriel Ajah — Chairman
  • Christian Mbah — Member
  • Mrs. Stella Ekweremadu — Member
  • Mrs. Theresa Onyefuzili Ifeanyichukwu — Member
  • Uzonna Emmanuel Ogarabe — Member
  • Ambrose Nwodo — Secretary

TVET body:

  • Dr. Amaka S. Ngene — Chairperson

The Enugu State Government said the appointments are designed to strengthen institutional capacity and promote more effective administration across the affected institutions.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the appointments take immediate effect.
