Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State is set to join women across the state in celebrating the 2026 Enugu Women’s August Meeting, with the community preparing to welcome women in a colourful celebration themed “The Resilient Woman.”
The annual gathering, hosted at the state level by the Wife of the Enugu State Governor and First Lady of Enugu State, Mrs. Nkechinyere Iheoma Mbah, is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, as women from across the 17 Local Government Areas converge to celebrate womanhood, culture, unity and resilience.
In Oji River, the celebration is being championed by Mrs. Uche Anyaegbudike, Wife of the Chairman of Oji River Local Government Area, who is expected to lead women of the council area in participating in the statewide August Meeting.
The theme, “The Resilient Woman,” celebrates the courage, strength and determination of women who continue to overcome challenges, nurture families, support their communities and contribute to the development of Enugu State.
For Oji River women, the August Meeting presents an opportunity to come together, reconnect with one another, celebrate their cultural heritage and showcase the values, talents and accomplishments that continue to distinguish women across the local government.
The occasion is also expected to strengthen bonds among women while providing a platform for social interaction, cultural expression and the celebration of the important roles women play in building stronger families and communities.
Welcoming women to the celebration, Oji River is expected to bring its distinctive cultural identity and community spirit to the wider statewide gathering, reinforcing the message that resilience is not merely about overcoming difficulties but also about continuing to inspire, build and contribute despite challenges.
The 2026 August Meeting, under the leadership of Mrs. Mbah, is expected to feature a range of activities celebrating the creativity, enterprise, culture and achievements of Enugu women.
As Oji River joins other Local Government Areas in the celebration, the theme “The Resilient Woman” will serve as a tribute to women whose strength and determination continue to inspire generations and contribute to the growth of their families, communities and Enugu State.
