The Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Enugu State Governor, Hon. Frank Anioma, has said Governor Peter Mbah’s administration has fundamentally changed the way government business is conducted in Enugu State through its “disruption model.”
Anioma made the statement during a Political Conversations programme on Freedom Square TV, anchored by Uchenna Cyril Anioke, Ph.D.
He explained that the model was designed to replace traditional approaches to governance with a more result-oriented, accountable, technology-driven and responsive system.
According to him, the impact of the model is evident in areas including security, civil service operations and the deployment of technology in government.
He cited the installation of surveillance cameras and the deployment of vehicles equipped with artificial intelligence-enabled cameras as measures introduced by the administration to strengthen security across the state.
Anioma also highlighted changes in the state’s civil service, noting that government offices now operate from Monday to Friday, unlike the previous situation where government activities were affected by the Monday sit-at-home order.
He described the change as part of efforts to improve efficiency and ensure continuity in government business.
The governor’s aide, however, noted that the administration had retained some policies inherited from previous governments where they were considered beneficial to the state.
He specifically mentioned the restriction on commercial minibuses operating beyond 9 p.m. and the ban on motorcycles as a means of commercial transportation, saying the measures were retained because of their security implications.
“Disruptive government does not mean that we will see something that is good and we will not adapt it. We will adapt to it and then make amendments where necessary,” Anioma said.
He stressed that the objective of the disruption model was not change for its own sake, but the introduction of policies and systems capable of delivering better results for the people.
Anioma added that the model was also reflected in the administration’s investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, tourism and economic development.
