...Senator Asogwa Dedicates Award to Gov. Mbah, Enugu North People, Congratulates Fellow Awardees
At its well-organised maiden edition of awards and recognition ceremony for outstanding leaders in government and business in Enugu State, held yesterday at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, Enugu Media Village, after a painstaking, independent, and rigorous assessment process, including visits to project sites and an online poll, honoured Governor Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah with the Award of Excellence in Disruptive Innovation and Service Delivery, while Senator Ikeje Asogwa, representing Enugu North Senatorial District, received the Award for Legislative Leadership and Quality Representation.
Other awardees included Senator Osita Ngwu, Hon. Sam Chimaobi Atu, Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Engr. Jude Asogwa, who emerged as the Best Local Government Chairman in Enugu State, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Enugu State, Barr. Osinachi Nnajieze who also represented Governor Mbah, former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, and several other distinguished personalities.
Speaking on behalf of Senator Ikeje Asogwa, who was unavoidably absent, his Director of Media, Publicity and Communication, Hon. Samson Ezea, expressed appreciation to the organisers for the honour bestowed on the Senator. He commended and congratulated them for fostering a professional and developmental partnership with governments at all levels in Enugu State.
He said: "Your efforts in promoting, strengthening, and repositioning good governance and effective service delivery are unprecedented and highly commendable.
"I also congratulate our workaholic, indefatigable, pragmatic, and altruistic Governor, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, on the honour bestowed on him today. This recognition comes as no surprise, considering that our Governor remains the poster boy of good governance in Nigeria. He has received numerous awards, honours, and recognitions both nationally and internationally, with many more undoubtedly on the way.
"These accolades are a testament to the giant strides, people-oriented policies, programmes, and projects of his administration, which have restored the lost glory of our state and positioned Enugu as an investment destination, one of the safest states in Nigeria, and one of the country's fastest-growing economies.
"I wholeheartedly dedicate this award to Governor Mbah for his outstanding governance performance and to the good people of Enugu North Senatorial District for being my greatest source of inspiration and pillars of support."
The Senator also congratulated the Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Engr. Jude Asogwa, on emerging as the Best Local Government Chairman in Enugu State, as well as all other recipients of the various awards and recognitions.
Speaking further, Senator Asogwa said he remains fully conscious of the strategic role and immense influence of the media as the Fourth Estate of the Realm. According to him, it was for this reason that, from the period of his grassroots consultations and electioneering campaigns across the 102 wards and six Local Government Areas of Enugu North Senatorial District ahead of the June 20 senatorial by-election, he prioritised building a strong partnership with the media.
"I sincerely appreciate the media for their professional coverage and developmental support from then until now, and I look forward to sustaining this cordial relationship.
"I am equally mindful of the expectations of my constituents, especially in view of the high standard of governance and development set by our leader and Governor.
"In line with this vision and my personal commitment, I have already begun taking deliberate steps to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach my constituents. This has taken me to several federal ministries, agencies, and parastatals, culminating in the recent visit by officials of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources to the abandoned Ada Rice Irrigation Project in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area for its immediate revitalisation.
"I believe the revival of the project will boost commercial agriculture, create jobs, enhance food security, and stimulate economic growth.
"Recently, I also inaugurated Local Government Human Empowerment Selection Committees across the six Local Government Areas of my senatorial district to ensure the transparent, impartial, and diligent selection of beneficiaries for the series of empowerment programmes that will soon be rolled out for farmers, the needy, and the downtrodden at the grassroots.
"There are several other people-oriented and result-driven programmes in the pipeline that will benefit our people.
"These initiatives are designed to complement the efforts and projects of our Governor and Local Government Chairmen because we are one government, one party, and one people. Together, we shall make Nigeria, Enugu State, and Enugu North Senatorial District greater."
