A mammoth gathering of political stakeholders, party leaders, traditional rulers, women, youths, community leaders and grassroots mobilisers from the fourteen political wards of Nkanu West Local Government Area converged at the Nkanu West Local Government Council Secretariat in Agbani on Monday, June 29, 2026, as the organic political movement, G-17 For Peter Mbah, inaugurated its Local Government, Ward Executives and Polling Unit Canvassers in continuation of its statewide grassroots mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event, which attracted a high-powered delegation of political leaders and government officials, witnessed the official signing of the G-17 Endorsement Register by the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo (Oji Efi Eme Ogo), after it was formally presented by the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman and Director-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah.

By appending his signature to the register, the council chairman reaffirmed Nkanu West's unwavering support for the re-election of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Welcoming the leadership of G-17 to Nkanu West, Hon. John Ogbodo described the movement as the number one grassroots political support group in Enugu State, commending its unique organisational structure and sustained grassroots presence across the state.

According to him, G-17 has distinguished itself from every other political support group through its discipline, credibility and community-based mobilisation strategy.

"G-17 is unmatched among all support groups in Enugu State. This is the number one grassroots mobilisation structure, and I am proud to identify with this movement," the chairman declared.

Hon. Ogbodo pledged the full support of the Nkanu West Local Government Council to the newly inaugurated executives, assuring them that the council would partner with G-17 in all its mobilisation activities across the fourteen political wards.

He declared that Nkanu West remained completely united behind Governor Peter Mbah, stressing that no political contest exists against the governor within Nkanu land.

"Nobody is contesting with Governor Peter Mbah. Nkanu has no other candidate. Our leaders, stakeholders and the entire people of Nkanu are firmly behind him. His second term is our collective project," he said.

The chairman confidently predicted an overwhelming APC victory in the next general elections.

"Before 12 noon on election day, Nkanu West would have delivered all APC candidates, from Hon. Ifeanyi Nnamani, Rt. Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, Senator Kelvin Chizoba Chukwu, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Victory is assured."

Hon. Ogbodo further applauded Governor Mbah's remarkable developmental strides across Nkanu West, noting that all the fourteen political wards now boast fully completed and functional Smart Green Schools and fully equipped Type-C Primary Healthcare Centres, alongside several road and infrastructure projects that have transformed the local government.

Speaking at the event, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Hon. Dan Nwomeh, commended G-17 for sustaining genuine grassroots mobilisation across Enugu State.

He described the organisation as a movement that understands political communication at the grassroots and urged members to intensify voter education ahead of the elections.

"The assignment before G-17 is simple, take the message to every village, every community and every polling unit that it is APC from head to toe. The mistake of the past will not repeat itself. This time, our people understand that voting for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is equally voting for Governor Peter Mbah and the continued development of Enugu State."

Former Commissioner for Health, Prof. Ikechukwu Emmanuel Obi, also pledged his support to the movement, describing G-17 as a tested grassroots political structure whose capacity has been proven over the years.

"I know G-17 and I know what this organisation can do. I am happy today to identify with this movement because it has consistently demonstrated commitment, loyalty and capacity in grassroots mobilisation."

Also speaking, respected political stakeholder Chief Godwin Nwatu (Winners) applauded Governor Peter Mbah's administration for its developmental achievements across Enugu State and pledged his continued support for both the governor and G-17.

The Chief of Staff to the Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District, Hon. Eneh Victor Chigozie, who represented Senator Kelvin Chizoba Chukwu, assured the gathering of the Senator's readiness to work closely with G-17 throughout the senatorial district.

"I have not seen a support group with this level of grassroots spread and organisation. G-17 has demonstrated capacity. Senator Kelvin Chukwu is with G-17 and will continue to support this structure across Enugu East Senatorial Zone."

The National Women Leader of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Princess Chinelo Ogbata Ejo, called on women across Nkanu West to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and remain at the forefront of grassroots mobilisation.

She noted that women and children remain the greatest beneficiaries of Governor Peter Mbah's investments in education, healthcare and social development and therefore have every reason to mobilise massively for the governor's re-election.

Delivering his keynote address, the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman and Director-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, congratulated the newly inaugurated executives and charged them to immediately commence aggressive ward-to-ward, community-to-community and polling-unit mobilisation.

"Today is not the end of your assignment; it is the beginning. You have been called to duty. Go back to your various communities and tell our people about the achievements of Governor Peter Mbah and why continuity is necessary."

Hon. Dr. Mbah expressed appreciation to Hon. John Ogbodo for creating an enabling environment for the movement and praised his developmental strides across Nkanu West.

He described the chairman as "Mr. One-Day, One-Project," saying the pace of development under his administration reflects the leadership philosophy of Governor Peter Mbah.

"The chairman is following the footsteps of the Governor. Everywhere speaks of purposeful leadership. Hon. John Ogbodo truly deserves the title 'Mr. One-Day, One-Project.'"

He maintained that Nkanu West requires no persuasion to support Governor Mbah because the governor remains the pride of Nkanu people.

"Peter Mbah is Nkanu's son in whom the people are well pleased. The recent endorsement rallies organised by Nkanu people have already spoken for the entire zone. Nkanu has agreed that it has no other candidate in 2027."

Hon. Dr. Mbah further highlighted the numerous projects executed by Governor Mbah in Nkanu West, including fourteen Smart Green Schools, fourteen fully equipped Type-C Primary Healthcare Centres, extensive road construction and other critical infrastructure spread across all fourteen political wards.

According to him, the governor's performance has earned him overwhelming acceptance across the local government.

He therefore urged members of G-17 to embark on intensive house-to-house sensitisation and voter mobilisation to ensure overwhelming victories for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Among the dignitaries who graced the inauguration and reaffirmed their support for Governor Peter Mbah and G-17 were Hon. Sir Mike Onu, Chief G.N. Ogbodo, Chief Vincent Onu (Managing Director, Vinland Communication Ltd.) and Prof. Augustine Nwagbala, alongside several party leaders, community stakeholders and traditional leaders from across Nkanu West.

The ceremony climaxed with the inauguration of the Local Government, Ward Executives and Polling Unit Canvassers of G-17 For Peter Mbah, who collectively pledged to deepen grassroots mobilisation, strengthen the movement's presence across the fourteen political wards and work tirelessly to deliver Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration of the Nkanu West chapter marks another significant milestone in the continued expansion of G-17's statewide grassroots political structure, further consolidating the movement's presence across Enugu State as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
