The Senator-elect for Enugu North Senatorial District, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, has assured the people of the district of quality, inclusive, and people-oriented representation following his victory in Saturday's senatorial bye-election.
In a message of appreciation issued on Sunday, Asogwa described his victory as a clear demonstration of the confidence and trust the people have in his leadership and in the shared vision of a more prosperous and united Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
Expressing profound gratitude to voters across the six local government areas of the district, the senator-elect said the overwhelming support he received was not merely an electoral triumph but a solemn responsibility to serve with integrity, diligence, and humility.
"The massive votes cast in my favour and that of our great party are not only a resounding mandate, but also a clear demonstration of your belief in our shared vision for a greater, more prosperous, and more inclusive Enugu North Senatorial Zone," he stated.
Asogwa thanked residents for their solidarity, prayers, endorsements, and sacrifices throughout the campaign, noting that their unwavering support culminated in what he described as a historic electoral success.
He also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, whom he described as his leader and mentor, commending the governor's leadership and commitment to peace, unity, and development, which, according to him, inspired confidence among the electorate.
The senator-elect further acknowledged the contributions of the Deputy Governor, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, party leaders at all levels, local government chairmen, stakeholders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders for their roles in ensuring the successful outcome of the election.
Asogwa also congratulated other contestants in the bye-election, describing their participation as an important contribution to democratic growth and the strengthening of Nigeria's electoral process.
Calling for unity after the election, he urged political actors and residents to put aside partisan interests and work together for the development of the senatorial district.
"There is no victor and no vanquished; the true winner is Enugu North Senatorial Zone," he declared.
The senator-elect dedicated his victory to the resilient people of Enugu North and paid tribute to the late Senator Okey Ezea, describing him as a worthy son of the district who lost his life while serving the people.
According to Asogwa, the victory also represents an important milestone for his political party and provides a solid foundation for greater achievements in the future.
Acknowledging the high expectations that accompany his election, he pledged to provide effective legislative representation, attract meaningful development projects, protect the interests of the people, and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every community across Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
He reaffirmed his commitment to building a stronger, more united, and prosperous senatorial district through responsive leadership and inclusive governance.
