Popular Nigerian socialite and businessman, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu does not fully trust him because of his Igbo identity and his previous support for Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

He made the claim during an interview with content creator Peller, where he reflected on his recent political experiences and setbacks within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Cubana Chief Priest, who had obtained the APC nomination form to contest for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State, failed to secure the party’s ticket. Following the primary election, he later downplayed his participation, despite earlier reports of his ambition.

He suggested that his past involvement in the 2023 presidential election campaign for Peter Obi may still be influencing how he is perceived within the ruling party.

According to him, President Tinubu views him with suspicion due to his earlier political alignment, stating that he believes the President “doesn’t really trust” him as an Igbo man.

He also noted that although he worked for Peter Obi during the 2023 elections, he later aligned with the APC and Tinubu, believing Obi had limited chances in future elections.

Cubana Chief Priest currently serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, a political support group linked to President Tinubu.

His failed bid in the APC primaries sparked mixed reactions online, with critics mocking his loss and suggesting he underestimated internal party politics. However, Seyi Tinubu reportedly encouraged him not to be discouraged, describing political setbacks as part of the journey.
