Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Enugu State turned out massively on Thursday to participate in the party’s governorship primary election, affirming Governor Peter Mbah as the sole governorship aspirant ahead of the 2027 general election.

The exercise, which took place simultaneously across the state’s 260 wards, witnessed large gatherings of party faithful who openly endorsed the governor’s second-term ambition, citing his administration’s performance in the last three years.

At Owo Ward in Nkanu East Local Government Area, Governor Mbah was received by enthusiastic supporters and party stakeholders. During the affirmation process conducted by the electoral panel led by Prince Arinze Arum, Mrs. Ngozi Eni, and Barr. Osinachi Nnajieze, members unanimously endorsed the governor’s candidature with a resounding voice vote.

Speaking during the exercise, the Ward Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Mbah, alongside the member representing Nkanu East/Nkanu West Federal Constituency, Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, described Governor Mbah’s re-election bid as crucial for the continued development of Enugu State.

Hon. Nnaji praised the governor’s leadership style and developmental strides, noting that the state had witnessed remarkable transformation under his administration.

According to him, Governor Mbah had become a symbol of purposeful governance and effective leadership in Nigeria, stressing that the governor’s achievements had earned him recognition among the country’s top-performing governors.

In his remarks, Governor Mbah commended the APC for conducting peaceful and transparent direct primaries, describing the process as a reflection of true internal democracy.

The governor noted that the party had successfully conducted primaries for the 24 State Assembly constituencies without major disputes, adding that many aspirants willingly stepped down in the spirit of unity and collective interest.

He stated that his emergence as the sole governorship aspirant was neither by coercion nor manipulation, but a demonstration of the confidence and trust party members had in his leadership.

Governor Mbah further described Enugu APC as an emerging model for grassroots democracy and internal political stability, emphasizing that unity within the party would strengthen its chances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He urged party members to remain united and avoid divisions capable of weakening the party’s support base before the general election.

Meanwhile, the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee in Enugu State, headed by Hon. Danmalikin Hausa, continued the collation of results from various wards across the state, with expectations high that the final outcome would formally confirm Governor Mbah as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
