The MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has attributed the recent power outage affecting parts of Enugu metropolis to heavy rainfall and strong winds.

The company’s Head of Communications, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, disclosed that the disruption occurred on Sunday afternoon following adverse weather conditions that caused a wire cut on the Emene Industrial Lines one and two. The incident also affected a distribution tower, leading to a breakdown in supply across several 33kV feeders linked to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Switch Yard at the New Haven Station.

According to MEDL, the impacted feeders include Trans Ekulu, Thinkers Corner, Ituku Ozalla, and Ugwogo 33kV lines. As a result, residents in areas such as Trans-Ekulu, Emene, Thinkers Corner, Emenite, Airport, Alo-Alminium, Akpuoga, Nkwubor, Ugwuomu, Abakpa-Nike, Nike Lake, and Ugwogo are currently without electricity.

The company assured customers that its technical team is working to fix the fault and restore power supply as quickly as possible, while expressing regret over the inconvenience caused.
