DON’T DIE WHILE LIVING: A Sacred Wake-Up Call to God’s Servants

Crystal Palace Estate

Ministry is not a just career. It is a divine calling to serve God, shepherd people, and bless communities. But beneath the anointing, the altar, and the applause, many servants carry invisible weights that slowly drain their strength.

Sometimes, it’s the quiet grind of juggling secular work to pay bills while waiting for the harvest of your commission.

Sometimes, it’s not finances at all—it’s watching devoted members face impossible trials, your heart bleeding for their sacrifice and faith.

Sometimes, beloved members who have become family are suddenly taken by death. You comfort the grieving while your own soul fractures.

And sometimes, betrayal cuts deepest: a trusted assistant or deacon spreads falsehoods, discourages the flock, fractures the church, and walks away with those you labored over. The lies sting. The injustice burns. The anger simmers.

These burdens rarely announce themselves. They accumulate quietly—pulling at your sleep, tightening your chest, stealing your joy. Before you notice, worry has become a shadow over your health, your emotions, your very life.

**DO NOT DIE WHILE LIVING, GOD’S SERVANT.**

Guard your health. Check your blood pressure. Move your body. See a doctor regularly. God is the Great Physician, but He has also given us wisdom to steward the temple He entrusted to us *(1 Corinthians 6:19–20; 3 John 1:2)*. Receive blessings with gratitude, but eat with moderation. A 40-day fast is spiritually powerful, but monitor your strength. What your body endured in your thirties may not sustain you in your sixties—and that’s not a failure of faith. It’s simply the vessel adjusting to time. Honor it *(Psalm 90:10; Isaiah 40:31)*.

Yes, a multi-million-dollar auditorium, a world-class sound system, a 10,000-person crusade, feeding programs, prison outreach, and campus ministries are beautiful visions from God. But remember: a movement that begins with ten faithful souls can, by God’s grace, become a harvest of millions. Be patient with your season. Keep a gratitude journal at every milestone. There is no competition in the Kingdom. God distributes graces according to His wisdom. The Lord of the harvest gives thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold from the same seed, sown in the same soil, under the same sky. Your diligence is your offering; the increase is His prerogative *(1 Corinthians 3:6–7; Galatians 6:9)*.

**REST. REST. REST.**

This is not a luxury; it is a divine ordinance for refreshment and restoration *(Exodus 20:8–10; Mark 6:31)*. As a second-generation minister, I have watched highly committed, Spirit-filled men and women succumb to health crises—or worse, leave us too soon. Let me say this clearly: **It was not always a demonic attack. Often, it was a lack of wisdom in caring for the body, the spirit, and the vision burning in the heart.** We are treasure in earthen vessels *(2 Corinthians 4:7)*. The treasure is eternal. The vessel is temporary but sacred. Guard it from breaking.

Don’t trade your tomorrow for today’s ministry. Don’t let the fire on the altar consume the hands that tend it. Serve with passion, lead with wisdom, rest with faith, and live long enough to see the fullness of what God has planted through you.

**Guard the vessel. Sustain the calling. Finish well.**
