Rt. Hon. Sunday Nnaji, the councillor representing Akpugo Ward 3 in Nkanu West Legislative Council, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nnaji, who serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Security in the council, conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated May 6, 2026. The letter was addressed to the Enugu State Chairman of the APC through the Akpugo Ward 3 APC Chairman.

“I wish to inform the leadership of our great party of my resignation as a member of the party with effect from 6th May, 2026 based on personal grounds,” the letter read in part.

Copies of the resignation letter were also forwarded to key stakeholders, including the Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government, the Leader of the Nkanu West Legislative Council in Agbani, and the Nkanu West APC Chairman.

The development has begun to stir political reactions within Nkanu West and across Enugu State, particularly as political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to unfold.
