Governor Hope Uzodinma has reportedly been removed as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) following an extraordinary meeting of governors held in Abuja shortly after the submission of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential nomination form.
According to sources present at the high-level closed-door meeting, about 20 governors aligned with the ruling party participated in discussions that allegedly led to the leadership shake-up within the influential governors’ bloc.
Insiders disclosed that governors from states including Ogun, Bayelsa, Enugu and others were part of the ongoing deliberations where the decision to remove Uzodinma was reportedly reached.
Though details surrounding the development remained sketchy as of press time, sources hinted that the meeting focused largely on restructuring the leadership of the forum ahead of the 2027 political season and the growing realignments within the ruling party.
A new chairman of the forum is expected to be announced after the conclusion of the meeting.
The development comes amid heightened political activities within the ruling party following President Tinubu’s formal submission of his presidential nomination documents.
