The Executive Chairman of Udi Local Government Area, Hon. Hyginus Agu, has extended warm felicitations to women across the council area, Nigeria, and the global community as the world marks International Women’s Day 2026.

In a goodwill message released to commemorate the annual celebration, the council chairman praised the immense contributions of women in shaping families, communities, and national development. He described women as the backbone of society whose resilience, courage, and dedication continue to inspire progress and transformation across generations.

Hon. Agu noted that the day serves as an important moment to celebrate not only the achievements of women but also the many challenges they have courageously overcome in their quest for equality, recognition, and opportunity. According to him, women play indispensable roles in homes, educational institutions, businesses, governance, and community leadership, making them central to the advancement of society.

He emphasized that women’s contributions to nurturing families, educating the next generation, and strengthening the social, economic, and political fabric of communities cannot be overstated. The chairman therefore called on members of the public to continue supporting the aspirations of women and to promote an environment where they can thrive, innovate, and take up leadership roles.

Highlighting the importance of gender inclusion, Agu stressed that equal opportunity, fair representation, and access to resources are crucial steps toward achieving sustainable development and building a more harmonious society.

Speaking further, the council boss reaffirmed the commitment of the Udi Local Government administration to policies and programs aimed at empowering women economically, socially, and politically. He disclosed that several initiatives have been introduced within the local government to improve the lives of women and girls.

Among these efforts, he said, are programs designed to support women entrepreneurs, scholarship opportunities for young girls, and initiatives that encourage greater participation of women in leadership and decision-making processes. The council is also collaborating with organizations and stakeholders to provide skills acquisition training and mentorship programs that will equip women with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in various fields.

Hon. Agu maintained that empowering women remains a strategic pathway to community prosperity, noting that when women succeed, families grow stronger and communities become more stable and productive.

On the occasion of the global celebration, he paid tribute to mothers, daughters, sisters, and wives whose daily sacrifices and commitment continue to sustain families and communities.

“Your sacrifices, hard work, and unwavering dedication do not go unnoticed,” he said, urging residents to continually champion the rights of women, celebrate their achievements, and create opportunities that will enable them to grow and lead.

He concluded by wishing women in Udi Local Government Area, across Nigeria, and around the world a memorable International Women’s Day, expressing hope that their courage, passion, and determination would continue to inspire positive change in society.

The message was released through Anekeoku Media as part of activities marking the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration.
