....His passing has prompted tributes from political leaders and citizens who remember his role in strengthening the state’s democratic journey.

Former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Chief Benjamin Elue, has passed away at the age of 85.

Elue served as Deputy Governor of the state from 1999 to 2007 during the administration of former Governor James Onanefe Ibori. His tenure is widely regarded as a defining period in Delta State’s early democratic development.

Described as a loyal and dependable partner in governance, Elue worked closely with Ibori to lay a solid administrative and political foundation that shaped subsequent governments in the state. His contributions were instrumental in establishing procedures and policies that guided Delta State’s governance structure in the years that followed.

In a tribute shared on his official Facebook page, Ibori mourned the loss of his former deputy, describing him as a trusted ally in leadership.

“Heartbroken to lose my gentleman Deputy Governor, Chief Benjamin Elue. Thank you for the memories and the legacy. Rest on, Alum,” Ibori wrote.
