The executive director of Heroine Women Foundation and President of Women support women for human empowerment and mentorship initiative), prominent women-focused advocacy groups, Ambassador Onyii Mamah, has exceptionally commended the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for what she described as a bold, deliberate, and inspiring commitment to women’s inclusion in governance through his latest round of strategic appointments.
Ambassador Mamah gave the commendation while reacting to the recent appointments approved by Governor Mbah, which saw competent women entrusted with key leadership roles across boards, agencies, and the state civil service, including the appointment of female Permanent Secretaries. She noted that the Governor’s actions clearly demonstrate that women are not only being acknowledged but are being positioned at the heart of decision-making in Enugu State.
In particular, the WOSUWO President praised the appointment of Mrs. Rita Chimaobi Ihemeje, who now represents Enugu West Senatorial District on the Governing Board of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), describing her as a woman of capacity, integrity, and proven leadership. She stated that Mrs. Ihemeje’s emergence reflects Governor Mbah’s resolve to identify and empower women with the competence to deliver results.
Ambassador Mamah also acknowledged the appointment of Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, State Coordinator of the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), noting that the inclusive nature of the appointments reinforces the Governor’s people-oriented leadership style and his recognition of loyalty, hard work, and grassroots impact.
Beyond these, WOSUWO highlighted the broader representation of women in the new appointments, including Mrs. Sylvia Onwubuemeli, appointed Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Library Board; Dr. Mrs. Uche Eze and Dr. Mrs. Oge Uka, appointed members of the ENSUBEB Governing Board; Mrs. Justina Ugwu, Representative of Enugu North Senatorial District on ENSUBEB; Dr. Nnenna Ogbonna, Representative of Enugu East Senatorial District; and Mrs. Juliet Ifesinachi Ani, who represents the State Women Group on the same board.
She further applauded the Governor for approving the appointment of women as Permanent Secretaries, describing the move as a major boost to professionalism, continuity, and gender balance within the Enugu State civil service. According to her, placing women at the administrative core of governance strengthens institutional stability and promotes inclusive policy execution.
Ambassador Mamah stressed that these appointments go beyond symbolism, noting that Governor Mbah has consistently matched his words with action by opening governance space to women across sectors such as education, administration, social development, and public service delivery.
“Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has once again proven that inclusive governance is not just a slogan but a living principle of his administration. By appointing women into strategic positions, including Permanent Secretaries and board members, he is laying a strong foundation for balanced leadership, accountability, and sustainable development in Enugu State,” she said.
She reaffirmed WOSUWO’s support for the Mbah administration, assuring that women across the state remain committed to supporting policies and programmes that promote equity, competence, and good governance.
Ambassador Mamah concluded by congratulating all the newly appointed women, urging them to see their appointments as a call to service and to justify the confidence reposed in them through diligence, excellence, and people-focused leadership.
