A Nigerian Air Force jet crashed on Saturday near Karabonde in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, with both pilots successfully ejecting before the aircraft went down.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 4:10 PM close to the community, according to local residents who witnessed the jet descending before crashing. Eyewitnesses shared videos and voice notes showing the aircraft engulfed in flames moments after it struck the ground.
Villagers confirmed that the pilots managed to eject from the jet before impact, escaping without serious injuries.
The aircraft is believed to have departed from the Kainji Air Force Base prior to the crash. Security operatives were said to have moved swiftly to cordon off the scene and secure the wreckage.
