Enugu PDP Demonstrates Unwavering Readiness for National Convention Under Oruruo’s Exemplary Leadership
The Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Hon. Steve Oruruo, has reaffirmed the total readiness of the state chapter to participate actively and impressively in the forthcoming PDP National Convention slated for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan.
Speaking to journalists in Enugu after a series of strategic meetings with various party organs, Oruruo exuded confidence that Enugu PDP stands as a model of unity, strength, and organizational excellence, fully prepared to make a remarkable showing at the convention. He emphasized that all logistical, mobilization, and communication frameworks have been flawlessly executed under his direction.
“I have just returned from Abuja where I secured all necessary materials for the convention. We have distributed uniforms, finalized travel logistics, and ensured that every delegate from Enugu is fully equipped. Our delegates will be airlifted directly from the Akanu Ibiam International Airport to the venue,” Oruruo revealed.
He disclosed that a dedicated aircraft would remain on standby throughout the convention period to guarantee seamless coordination, adding that the state party office will maintain continuous communication with all delegates on travel schedules and updates.
Highlighting the uncommon resilience and focus of the party in Enugu, Oruruo noted that despite operating without financial backing from the state government, the chapter has maintained its dominance as one of the most organized and united structures within the PDP family nationwide.
“The PDP in Enugu is not just strong — it is indestructible. We are sending about 81 delegates to the national convention, and we are even considering sponsoring additional passionate members who are eager to be part of this historic gathering,” he said.
Under Oruruo’s leadership, the party has sustained intensive consultations with stakeholders across all levels to deepen unity and foster inclusivity. “We have continued to reach out to everyone because we believe that no one should be left behind. In every family, there may be differences, but true leadership lies in building consensus and ensuring every voice is heard,” he added.
Describing effective opposition as a test of leadership, sacrifice, and strategic vision, Oruruo asserted that his administration has been guided by the philosophy of collective strength and moral courage. “Opposition politics demands unity and conviction. If we uphold togetherness as our strength and harmony as our weapon, we can rebuild the PDP into a credible national force once again,” he stated.
Looking ahead to the convention, Oruruo expressed optimism that the exercise would reinforce internal democracy, foster reconciliation, and restore confidence among members nationwide. “My expectation is unity. The PDP must rise from the convention as one indivisible body, ready to rebuild, reconnect, and reclaim its rightful place in Nigeria’s political space,” he said.
He further stressed that inclusivity remains a defining principle of his leadership style, cautioning against alienation of members or suppression of divergent opinions. “The moment we begin to silence plurality of ideas, democracy loses its essence. What we need is a broad and vibrant party structure where every member feels valued and heard,” Oruruo declared.
Reiterating his faith in the capacity of the PDP to produce visionary leaders at the convention, Oruruo expressed confidence that new national officers will emerge with the competence and courage to restore the people’s faith in the party. “We are expecting leaders who will embody focus, integrity, and resilience — people who will stand firm for Nigerians and rekindle hope in democratic governance,” he said.
In closing, Hon. Steve Oruruo reaffirmed that under his stewardship, the Enugu PDP remains a symbol of stability, unity, and excellence, ready not only for the national convention but also to chart a fresh direction for credible opposition politics and renewed national relevance.
