The long-anticipated Nsukka Youth General Assembly (NYGA) Small Business and Students Grant Empowerment 1.0 held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Adada House, Nsukka, has set a remarkable precedent for youth empowerment and community transformation across the Nsukka socio-cultural zone of Enugu State.

The groundbreaking event, which united vibrant youths from the Enugu North Senatorial District, comprising Nsukka, Igbo-Eze South, Igbo-Eze North, Igbo Etiti, Udenu, and Uzo Uwani Local Government Areas—was filled with jubilation, gratitude, and renewed optimism as hundreds of beneficiaries received millions of naira in direct financial grants to support business startups and educational pursuits.

Conceptualized and coordinated by the National President of the Nsukka Youth General Assembly, Amb. Dr. Clinton Ogbonna, the empowerment initiative underscores a bold vision to strengthen youth capacity, promote self-reliance, and drive innovation within the Nsukka zone. Young entrepreneurs and students expressed immense joy as they received financial support designed to expand their businesses, fund their education, and enhance their contributions to community development.

In his address, Dr. Ogbonna expressed deep appreciation to all donors and partners whose generous contributions made the programme a resounding success. He also extended heartfelt gratitude to the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his youth-centered policies, transformative governance, and steadfast commitment to human capital development.

“Governor Peter Mbah has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to building a new Enugu where young people can innovate, thrive, and lead. His leadership continues to inspire us to do more. I encourage all beneficiaries to seize this opportunity and make the most of it, as more empowerment programmes are still on the way,”
Amb. Dr. Clinton Ogbonna

Dr. Ogbonna also appreciated his executive team, political stakeholders, and well-meaning Nsukka sons and daughters whose collective efforts ensured the success of the event. He reaffirmed that the NYGA will remain a unifying platform for youth inclusion, empowerment, and prosperity within and beyond Nsukka.

The beneficiaries, visibly thrilled, described the empowerment as “a dream fulfilled,” lauding the NYGA leadership for its transparency, impact, and unwavering dedication to youth development. Many pledged to use their grants responsibly to grow sustainable enterprises and advance their academic goals.

Observers have hailed the NYGA Empowerment Programme as a practical and replicable model for youth-focused development, aligning seamlessly with Governor Peter Mbah’s vision of innovation-driven productivity and inclusive empowerment across Enugu State.

As chants of “Tomorrow Is Here!” and “Nsukka Youths Rising!” filled the air, the event ended on a note of unity, inspiration, and hope, signaling a bright future for Nsukka youths anchored on purpose, innovation, and visionary leadership.
