The long-anticipated final showdown of the Governor Peter Mbah Inter-Campus Students Football Tournament 2025 kicks off today, October 19, 2025, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
The high-stakes encounter will see the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) lock horns with the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in what promises to be an electrifying battle for supremacy — and the ultimate bragging rights as champions of this year’s tournament.
At stake is a ₦1 million cash prize for the winner, with both teams expected to bring their best game to the turf after weeks of intense competition and campus pride on the line. The runner-up will still walk away with ₦500,000, while the third-place decider between ESCOTECH and SUMAS will also take place earlier in the day, with the winner pocketing ₦300,000.
The event, organized under the auspices of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee, Enugu Axis, is more than just a football final — it’s a celebration of youth energy, sportsmanship, and the vibrant spirit of students across the state.
According to the Director of Sports, NANS JCC Enugu, Comr. Ugwu Kingsley Chigozie, the grand finale will be “a carnival of unity, talent, and excitement that showcases the strength of Enugu’s student community.”
The Public Relations Officer of NANS JCC Enugu, Comr. Okwudili Favour Chinagorom, added that all roads lead to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium today as students, sports lovers, and youth groups gather to witness the historic final.
Kickoff for the third-place match between ESCOTECH and SUMAS is scheduled for 2:00 PM, paving the way for the main final between UNN and IMT, where only one team will emerge a million naira richer and etch its name in student sports history.
