Today, Enugu Grassroots Mobilisation Force, popularly known as G17, held its long-awaited strategic stakeholders meeting, culminating in a resounding endorsement of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 governorship election. The event, which took place at the prestigious Destiny Event Centre, Nza Street, Independence Layout, Enugu, drew together an extraordinary convergence of traditional rulers, religious leaders, market executives, youth leaders, and top political figures from across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
In a symbolic moment of unity and recognition, the group also crowned Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as the Grand Patron of G17, a title reserved for individuals of exceptional leadership vision and service to humanity. The decision, according to the organisers, was in acknowledgment of the Governor’s transformative leadership, innovative governance style, and unprecedented strides in infrastructure, education, agriculture, digital transformation, and economic development within just two years in office.
Delivering a powerful keynote address, the Convener of G17, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, declared the group’s total alignment with the vision and mission of the Governor, stressing that G17 would stand solidly behind him in every political journey ahead. In his words:
“Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is the party that we know. Anywhere he is going, we are going with him. His transformative leadership and visible innovation have redefined governance and given Enugu a new direction of progress.”
Hon. Mbah further described the Governor as a visionary leader whose policies and programmes have restored public confidence in government, citing the ongoing water revolution, the expansion of smart schools, the reformation of the transport and justice sectors, and the strategic partnerships that have attracted investors into Enugu’s growing digital and business ecosystem.
Continuing his address, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah emphasized that Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s administration has rekindled hope among the people of Enugu State through purposeful leadership anchored on vision, innovation, and service delivery. He highlighted the Governor’s achievements in key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, digital economy, and agriculture, noting that his pragmatic policies have repositioned Enugu as a hub of opportunity and investment. Dr. Mbah commended the Governor’s unwavering dedication to transparency, accountability, and youth inclusion in governance, describing him as a reformer whose leadership has transcended politics to become a movement of transformation. He urged all G17 members and stakeholders to remain united and resolute in their support, stressing that continuity under Governor Mbah’s leadership is essential to consolidating the unprecedented progress recorded so far.
The meeting, which lasted several hours, witnessed rousing commendations from participants who extolled Governor Mbah’s achievements and expressed delight in his people-centered governance style. Traditional rulers, religious leaders, market leaders, and community President Generals took turns to applaud his commitment to inclusive development, noting that his administration has bridged the gap between the urban and rural areas while empowering the youth and women through various empowerment and capacity-building initiatives.
Adding political weight to the gathering were several top government officials and political stakeholders, including Rt. Hon. Paul Nnajiofor, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters; Barr. Osita Nnajieze, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Legal Matters; and Chief Frank Anioma, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters. Also in attendance were Ambassador Rev. Emmanuel Ositadimma Edeh, State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN); Hon. Mrs. Peace Patrick Nnaji, Enugu State PDP Women Leader; and Mrs. Ihuoma Eze, Enugu State Coordinator of the APPEALS Project. They were joined by former local government chairmen, former commissioners, political veterans, and notable grassroots mobilisers who collectively reaffirmed their confidence in the Governor’s leadership direction.
The meeting was more than a political convergence; it was a celebration of performance, loyalty, and shared vision for a greater Enugu. Speaker after speaker described Governor Mbah’s administration as a model of transformative governance, particularly praising his emphasis on economic renewal, transparency, and infrastructure delivery.
In a unanimous resolution, the G17 reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising grassroots support, defending the Governor’s legacy, and ensuring his re-election in 2027, insisting that the future of Enugu’s development lies in the continuity of his leadership. The declaration, which was met with thunderous applause, effectively positions G17 as a major political force rallying behind the Governor’s re-election bid.
As chants of “Peter Mbah! Tomorrow is Here!” filled the hall, members of the G17 vowed to sustain the momentum across all local government areas, ensuring that every household in Enugu understands and embraces the Governor’s developmental vision. Thursday’s endorsement, observers say, marks the beginning of a new political chapter, one that solidifies Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s place as the people’s choice and a symbol of transformative governance in Enugu State.
