IMT Enugu: Prof. Ogbodo Launches Integrity Reforms, Vows to Sanitize Academic System

The Rector of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, Professor Gozie Ogbodo warns erring staff particularly lecturers to desist from all forms of extortion and infractions or face disciplinary actions that may cause them to lose their employments with the Institute.

Addressing lecturers in the affected departments in the degree programmes, Prof. Ogbodo vowed to deal with any lecturer found wanting of offenses of extortion, sexual harassment and all manner of indiscipline.

In an interactive meeting with Management, staff and lecturers in the degree programmes, Prof. Ogbodo reiterated his commitment to a new testament IMT. He promised to do everything humanly possible to rid the Institute of all forms of vices including poor attitude to work. We are in an era where people want to be paid without working, he further said. The Management under my watch is committed to a complete mindset change in terms of what we do and how we do it. Mindset change is core value which we hold tenaciously to in IMT. Remember that IMT is a BRAND and we can’t afford to compromise this brand now.

Quite a number of things are beginning to happen and we must keep track of these events and not lose them. Staff and students must queue-up into this progress agenda or be shown the way out of an emerging system poised to be re-branded.

The Director of Degree programmes Dr. Adachukwu Ikeyi in her opening remarks, informed lecturers of the need to collect, mark and submit their scripts within the time limit provided for doing so or face disciplinary measures. She also advised those involved in project supervision to take advantage of the early bird in sharing students for supervision to ensure that students complete their project on time.

In his statement, the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Ifeanyi Ojobor reminded his colleagues that IMT Enugu is a system and the system runs on rules. Dr. Ojobor called on all staff to ensure that they operate within the confines of the law.

In view of the concerns raised during the meeting, action plans were proposed to ensure that the Institute’s integrity and commitment to academic excellence is not compromised. IMT remains committed to academic excellence, integrity, and the welfare of our students. We do not, and will never, condone any form of extortion, bribery, or manipulation of academic outcomes. Going forward, the Rector has directed that attendance to lectures by both lecturers and students is compulsory. Mid semester examinations will be introduced to guarantee quality assurance.
