The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has announced that this month’s Environmental Sanitation Exercise will take place on Saturday, 31st May 2025, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am.
However, in a notable departure from routine, there will be no restriction of movement during the sanitation hours. According to a public service announcement signed by Andreas Gebauer, Special Adviser to the Governor on Water and Waste Management, the decision was made in consideration of the National Gifted Entrance Examination being conducted nationwide by the National Examinations Council (NECO) on the same day.
While the usual vehicular and pedestrian restrictions are lifted, ESWAMA has strongly urged Ndi Enugu to continue cleaning their surroundings and properly bag their waste to aid easy evacuation by the waste collection teams.
Residents are also reminded to pay their sanitation rates to authorized e-ticketing agents in their respective areas to avoid penalties.
