President Bola Tinubu is set to visit Enugu State on Saturday, January 4, 2025, to commission several significant projects spearheaded by the Governor Peter Mbah administration. This marks the President's first state visit to the southeastern state since assuming office.
In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, it was revealed that the visit will feature the unveiling of numerous completed projects that are part of Governor Mbah’s broader vision for infrastructural development in the state.
Among the projects to be commissioned are 30 fully completed and equipped Enugu Smart Green Schools, which are part of an ambitious plan to construct a total of 260 such schools across the state's 260 wards. Additionally, 60 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres have been completed, with another 200 under construction in various locations. The focus on education and healthcare highlights the administration's commitment to improving the living standards of residents.
The President will also commission the newly completed multi-auditorium and multifunctional Enugu International Conference Centre, a key asset for the state's growing role in hosting international events. A further highlight will be the inauguration of 90 completed urban roads within Enugu City, designed to alleviate traffic congestion and promote smoother transportation across the state capital.
In addition to these urban developments, the President will unveil the state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre, which aims to enhance security operations in Enugu, alongside 150 patrol vehicles fitted with AI-embedded surveillance cameras. These measures underscore the state government's efforts to tackle security challenges and ensure the safety of its citizens.
President Tinubu will also commission some completed rural roads as part of the ongoing effort to improve infrastructure in the hinterlands, providing better connectivity and fostering economic growth in rural communities.
The visit is expected to further cement the collaboration between the federal and state governments in promoting development and addressing the needs of the people of Enugu State.
