The Chairman of Oji River Local Government Area in Enugu State, Mr. Greg Anyaegbudike, has announced an ambitious 2025 budget exceeding N11 billion, aimed at transforming the council from a "transit junction town" into a thriving investment hub.
Anyaegbudike introduced the budget, titled "Budget of Exponential Economic Growth," during a press briefing in Enugu. The proposed budget outlines N8.86 billion for capital projects and N1.93 billion for recurrent expenditure, reflecting the administration’s commitment to driving economic prosperity in the region.
The budget is designed to boost local and international business, tourism, estate development, and provide decent living accommodations. It also aligns with the state’s economic vision of increasing the GDP of Enugu State from $4.4 billion to $30 billion over the next eight years.
Key capital projects for 2025 include constructing 10 kilometers of roads in each ward, contributing to Enugu State’s broader infrastructure plans. The council aims to enhance access to remote areas, enabling citizens to engage in economic activities and attract investment and tourism.
Mr. Anyaegbudike emphasized that the budget reflects his administration's commitment to meeting the needs of the people and building a sustainable future for Oji River. The council will focus on key sectors such as health, agriculture, education, infrastructure, and urban renewal to ensure broad-based development across the area.
In his remarks, the Chairman expressed confidence that the implementation of these plans would position Oji River as a major economic player in the state, contributing significantly to Enugu’s overall growth and prosperity.
