...Calls on Other Leaders to Emulate His Exemplary Service
The Concerned Enugu State Youths (CESY), an Enugu-based good governance advocacy youth group popular in the Southeast region of Nigeria, has expressed their profound admiration and gratitude to Prince Dr. Lawrence Ezeh, the Enugu State Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, for his exceptional humanitarian contributions to Mburubu, a community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. Ezeh, who also holds the esteemed title of Prince of Mburubu Kingdom, has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the development of his community through a series of impactful donations and initiatives.
In a statement made in Enugu on Wednesday, CESY, led by Comr. Kingsley Ekeh, commended Dr. Ezeh for the significant strides he has made in uplifting the living conditions of Mburubu residents, particularly during the 2024 Christmas season. His generous donations were not only timely but also addressed critical community needs.
The inauguration of a 15,000-square-meter interlock project at St. John Catholic Parish, Mburubu, which Dr. Ezeh fully funded, was a monumental achievement for the community. The church, which Dr. Ezeh constructed in 2021, is the only Catholic parish in the area and serves as a vital place of worship. The completion of this interlocking project further enhanced the church's infrastructure, providing a safe and welcoming environment for worshippers.
In the spirit of Christmas, Dr. Ezeh donated millions of naira on Christmas Eve to the youth of Umudara Mburubu to support their various initiatives and activities. This gesture reflected Dr. Ezeh’s ongoing mission to empower the younger generation, many of whom face significant challenges in accessing opportunities for growth.
Further showing his generosity, Dr. Ezeh distributed 50 bags of rice and millions of naira to the people of Umudara Mburubu on December 26, 2024. This donation came at a time when many families were struggling due to the economic challenges exacerbated by the global pandemic. The financial relief, alongside the rice distribution, provided much-needed assistance to families in the community.
CESY reserved its highest praise for the donation of 10 commercial buses to Mburubu on December 27, 2024. This donation was a game-changer for the community, which had long faced transportation challenges that hampered residents’ access to markets, healthcare, and other essential services. Additionally, local farmers struggled to transport their produce, resulting in economic losses. With the introduction of these buses, Dr. Ezeh not only addressed the immediate transportation issues but also created new business opportunities for young entrepreneurs, allowing them to operate these buses as part of a commercial transport system.
In addition to the buses, Dr. Ezeh generously donated 250 bags of rice to the entire community, along with millions of naira in cash donations to support local development projects. This was not the first time Dr. Ezeh had extended such substantial support to Mburubu; his previous philanthropic efforts have included providing solar panels to seven villages, rehabilitating bridges, upgrading electricity grids, and constructing roads.
Comr. Kingsley Ekeh, the leader of CESY, praised Dr. Ezeh’s long-standing dedication to the welfare of Mburubu. "Dr. Ezeh’s contributions go beyond just infrastructural development; they reflect his deep compassion and commitment to the people he serves. His focus on education, healthcare, and youth empowerment has transformed Mburubu into a model of community development," he said.
Dr. Ezeh, in turn, expressed his gratitude to the community for their support and emphasized that his efforts were a reflection of the leadership and vision of Governor Peter Mbah, whose commitment to statewide development has inspired him. "Governor Mbah’s vision is clear to touch every corner of Enugu State, and I am proud to be part of that vision. Together, we can build a better future for Mburubu and Enugu State," Dr. Ezeh said.
The people of Mburubu were visibly moved by Dr. Ezeh’s gestures. Chief Simon Aniobi, the former President General of Mburubu Town Union, expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, “Prince Dr. Ezeh has shown us that there is a future to look forward to. This Christmas will remain in our hearts for many years to come. His contributions will have a lasting impact on the community."
CESY, in their statement, emphasized that Dr. Ezeh’s leadership exemplifies the power of compassionate service and community-oriented governance. "Dr. Ezeh’s continued commitment to the people of Mburubu is a testament to the type of leadership we need one that goes beyond politics and focuses on uplifting the lives of ordinary citizens," Comr. Ekeh concluded.
