100-Days-In-Office: Hon. Engr. Jude Chinedu Asogwa Reflects on Achievements and Plans for a Brighter Nsukka

 



The Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Jude Chinedu Asogwa, has celebrated a successful 100 days in office, highlighting significant strides in security, infrastructure, education, and community development. His leadership has brought notable improvements, including the enhancement of local security, the introduction of agricultural programs, and key infrastructure projects like road rehabilitation and clean water access. Reflecting on these achievements, Asogwa thanked the people of Nsukka for their support, pledging to continue working towards a brighter future for the community.


"To the esteemed people of Nsukka Local Government Area,

As I mark my 100th day in office as your Chairman, I am delighted to report on the significant progress we have made together. Your unwavering support and trust in me have been the catalyst for our achievements, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve you.


Security as our top Priority:

We have taken bold steps to strengthen security in our local government area, including:

- Overhauling and expanding our security personnels to ensure a safer and more secure environment

- Acquiring Phantom 2 drones to enhance surveillance and response capabilities

- Facilitating the return of the Nigeria Police to Okpuje division, bolstering our community policing efforts

These initiatives have yielded positive results, with a recorded thwart and rescue of kidnapped victim at Edem axis and improved safety for residents and businesses.

- Borehole Infrastructure: Providing clean water for residents in Owere lejja and Umu-Akpor village in Ibagwa-Ani community

- Scholarship Program: Empowering an Nsukka local government indigene to study abroad, fostering education and personal growth

- Agricultural Development: Partnering with L-PRES to identify, profile, and register livestock farmers, vaccinate their animals, and seek support for agricultural growth. Also, crops farmers are identified, profiled and registered through their various cooperative society for farm input and fertilizer disbursement.

- Road Rehabilitation: Improving ease of movement through the rehabilitation of failing portions at Opi-Nsukka road, Total roundabout, university road, fire service junction, UNN second gate, beach Junction and other areas

- Hosted the First-Ever Nsukka Interparty Stakeholders Meeting: Fostering unity and cooperation among political leaders to discuss the way forward for Nsukka

- Renovated and Equipped the Peter Mba Skill Acquisition Center: Providing a conducive environment for skills development and employment. Project is at equipment stage.

- Dissolved Former Market Executive, established market verification committee and Created Caretaker Committees: created market verification committee to verify all holders of market allocation and resolve issue partianing to market allocation. 

- Implemented Flood Control Measures: Alleviating flooding issues at Ugwuoye axis and other prone areas

- Repaired Pedestrian Bridge at Catholic Cathedral: Enhancing safety of pupils and general public using the pedestrians bridge

- Procured Waste Management Equipment 

- Fenced Opi Customary Court

- Constructed 1.6km Ring Road from School of health junction through Nsukka police station, Nsukka correctional center to Total roundabout.

- Market Electrification, installation and energization of 300kva transformer at Aku Road Market. Also 3km Ibagwa-agu rural electrification, installation and energization of 200kva transformer ongoing.

- Recovery and maintenance of Nsukka local government road construction asset and earth moving equipment to help in the grading of our community access roads.
