Igbo-Eze South Chairperson, Mrs Empress Ugo-Ferdinand, Set to Flag-Off 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence at Grassroots Level

Tomorrow, Saturday, being the 7th of November, 2024, the Chairperson of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Council, Mrs. Empress Ugo-Ferdinand, will flag-off the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence in the council. The event, inspired by the campaign championed by Her Excellency, Hon. Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, the First Lady of Enugu State, aims to raise awareness and take action against violence towards women and girls in Igbo-Eze South.


The event will take place at the Community Hall, Igbo-Eze South Headquarters, starting at 10:00 AM. Mrs. Ugo-Ferdinand, who has always been a strong advocate for the well-being of women and children, is dedicated to creating safer spaces and opportunities for everyone in her community. Her leadership has consistently focused on unity and solutions that come from within the community itself, aiming to make Igbo-Eze South and more just and equitable for all.


Through this event, Mrs. Ugo-Ferdinand hopes to bring people together to discuss how they can all contribute to the effort of ending gender-based violence. She calls on community leaders, families, religious and political stakeholders  to join her in this important mission championed by the wife of Enugu State Governor.


In line with the vision of the First Lady of Enugu State, Mrs. Ugo-Ferdinand will be presenting key messages about protecting women and girls from abuse, the importance of education, and empowering them to take control of their futures. 


"this campaign is not just about raising awareness, rather, it’s about creating real change in the lives of women and girls in the society" she said.
