Security operatives have apprehended Terry Tinate Augustus, a notorious kidnapper, in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State. Augustus, who is also known as "Black" and claims to be a pastor from Ajapa in Ese Odo Local Government Area, was arrested on December 8, 2024, in a joint operation led by the Amotekun Corps and the Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Pipeline Surveillance and Waterways Security, Engr. Alore Omosuyi. The arrest followed a tip-off from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad.
Augustus is allegedly a key member of a violent kidnapping syndicate involved in several high-profile abductions, including a recent case in Lagos. His capture came after the arrest of two other members of the gang, Promise Mafimisebi and Monday Ikuesan, in Lagos. During questioning, Mafimisebi disclosed that the gang had collected a ransom of $52,000 for the kidnapping of Isa Ososa in Lagos. Mafimisebi also identified Augustus as a member of their group, which primarily targeted wealthy individuals in urban areas. The gang used stolen vehicles and swift abduction tactics in their operations.
The successful operation was a result of strategic collaboration between Engr. Alore Omosuyi and the Amotekun Corps in Ilaje. Their combined security expertise and surveillance capabilities led to the swift capture of Augustus. The arrest is seen as a significant victory in the fight against kidnapping and violent crime in the region.
