The Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Caleb Ani, says the council will investigate the fire incident that gutted some shops at the Modern Timber Market, Enugu.
The fire, which cause cannot be ascertained, started at about 6p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
Hon. Ani who visited the market in company of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Uwani, CSP Sanl Ibrahim Moriki, to ascertain the level of destruction caused by the inferno at the market, disclosed that the council would investigate the immediate and remote causes of the fire incident.
The council chairman sympathised with victims of the fire incident that razed parts of the market, adding, "no life was lost in the entire incident”.
He commended the operatives of the State Fire Service for promptly putting out the fire from spreading to the entire market.
