The wife of the governor on Friday 27th December, 2024 gave a sensitization talk on the benefits of breastfeeding to women in Nkanu East. The event started with an opening prayer by the Nkanu East woman leader, followed by the local government chairman encouraging women to breastfeed their babies.
Mrs Rita Edeh the first lady of Nkanu East took the stage, inviting her husband to join her. Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh the Nkanu East LGA Chairman appreciated the governor's wife and welcomed her, acknowledging the governor's efforts in Nkanu East, particularly in Ugbwka, where several roads are under construction.
The governor's wife Her excellency Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah expressed her gratitude to the people of Ugbwka for their warm welcome and encouraged the women to prioritize breastfeeding. She highlighted its numerous benefits, which include protecting babies from diseases, promoting healthy growth, and even supporting maternal health.
The event concluded with the distribution of food items, emphasizing the importance of community support and nutrition.
