WORLD FOOD DAY: Organic Solutions Agro Unveils New Initiatives For Enugu State Farmers

In celebration on of World Food Day, farmers across Enugu State are being called to reaffirm their commitment to food security and sustainability. The Founder of Organic Solutions Cooperative and the Enugu Farmers Association Forum, Hon. Giovanni Madubuaku, has delivered a motivating message to all farmers in the state, encouraging them to remain resilient and steadfast in their agricultural efforts.

Hon. Madubuaku acknowledged the ongoing challenges in agriculture but emphasized that the responsibility to ensure food security rests on everyone’s shoulders. "As we journey to sustain the fight for food security, bear in mind that the task is on us all. Ensure you don’t give up but do your best to keep expanding your farms," he said.

In an effort to further support farmers, Organic Solutions Agro has developed a strategic implementation plan to drive transformational agricultural development in Enugu State. Hon. Madubuaku assured farmers of continued support, promising access to vital training, modern trends in agriculture, and essential information. The initiative is poised to revolutionize farming practices, enhance productivity, and bolster the agricultural economy of the state.

A key highlight of the new strategy is the introduction of a 3000-litre organic compost tea production facility, which will be established across all wards in Enugu State. This initiative is designed to completely eliminate the cost of chemical fertilizers, providing farmers with a more sustainable and cost-effective solution for soil enrichment. "With this facility set across the state, Enugu will produce healthy and export-valuable products," Hon. Madubuaku stated.

Another significant development is the plan to establish multi-purpose agro-processing centers in each of the six agro zones in the state. These centers will process rice, palm products, cassava, and various other crops, alongside livestock. This move is expected to enhance value addition and increase the income of farmers by enabling them to process their produce locally. The centers will serve as hubs for agricultural productivity, promoting both crop and livestock farming while reducing post-harvest losses.

Hon. Madubuaku expressed his admiration for the agricultural initiatives of His Excellency Governor Peter Mbah, highlighting the governor’s commitment to growing the state’s economy through agriculture. He noted that for the first time in the history of Enugu State, farmers have received over 12,000 bags of fertilizers, alongside additional federal government inputs.

The recent acquisition of over 300 tractors by the state government was also recognized as a major step towards agro-industrialization. "This marks the beginning of the agro-industrialization process in Enugu State, and we are proud to be part of this journey," Hon. Madubuaku remarked.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Madubuaku made a passionate appeal to Governor Mbah to establish an agricultural task force. This task force would be charged with ensuring the equitable distribution of agricultural inputs and government support, as well as overseeing the implementation of government agricultural policies. "We also wish to use this opportunity to beg the governor to set up an Agricultural Task Force in the state to help ensure that the agricultural inputs and supports from the government are shared judiciously," he urged.

In conclusion, Hon. Madubuaku reminded farmers of their crucial role in sustaining the nation. "No farmer, no nation," he declared, underscoring the importance of the agricultural sector to the overall well-being of society.

As Enugu State continues to make strides towards agricultural development, the commitment of the government, farmers, and key stakeholders like Organic Solutions Agro will be vital in securing a prosperous future for the state’s agricultural sector.
