IGBO-EZE SOUTH: Hon. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze Inaugurates Assets Valuation and Documentation Committee

The Executive Chairman of Igbo Eze South Local Government Area, Hon. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, has appointed a nine-member committee tasked with evaluating and documenting the assets of the local government. This initiative comes as a strategic move by Hon. Ukwueze, who took office on September 30, 2024, alongside 16 other newly elected council chairmen in Enugu State.

According to the Chairman, the establishment of the Assets Valuation and Documentation Committee is essential for providing his administration with comprehensive information on the assets and liabilities of the Igbo Eze South Local Government Council. Hon. Ukwueze emphasized the need for transparency and accountability, key tenets of his administration's “Progress Agenda,” and noted that the exercise would play a pivotal role in determining the true state of the council's resources.

Committee Composition and Mandate

The nine-member committee will be chaired by Sir Bona C. Ugwuja, a highly qualified professional with an impressive array of credentials, including HND, MBA, MPhil, ANIM, ACITN, FCA, and PhD. Hon. The committee will also provide detailed information on the state and value of the council’s stocks, buildings, lands, vehicles, equipment, revenue-generating points, brands, and other assets. They are expected to complete their task within two weeks from the date of publication.

In a press statement from Hon. Ukwueze’s office, the chairman emphasized the importance of having up-to-date knowledge of the council’s assets and liabilities. He tasked the committee with furnishing his administration with comprehensive data on the council’s vehicles, lands, buildings, and other properties, which are crucial for effective governance.

“Sequel to my desire to take off leadership of Igbo Eze South on a very good note backed with adequate information on the assets and liabilities of the council, I hereby appoint the following names to serve in my Assets Valuation and Documentation Committee to avail my administration with detailed information on the true state of the Council and its assets,” Hon. Ukwueze stated.

He further stressed that the initiative is part of his commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in local governance. "Local government councils play vital roles in rural development; hence, efforts to ensure we are fully acquainted with all we have in the council is germane,” he said.

With the committee given a strict two-week timeline to deliver their findings, Hon. Ukwueze’s administration is poised to take significant strides in setting a solid foundation for the council’s progress. This move aligns with his broader agenda of fostering growth, development, and responsible governance in Igbo Eze South.

While the committee embarks on its task, the local community eagerly anticipates the outcomes, which are expected to shape key decisions in resource management and rural development initiatives.
