Udenu Council Chairman Akachukwu Eze Akachukwu  interacts with NURTW, emphasizes on improving motor parks

In a show of solidarity and collaboration, the Executive Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Akachukwu Eze Akachukwu , welcomed a delegation from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) led by their Leader, Chief Hon. Matthew Asogwa to his office on Monday. The visit served as a platform to strengthen ties between the union and the Local Government administration as they seek to enhance transportation and address pressing community issues.


During the meeting, Chief Hon. Asogwa expressed gratitude for the Chairman's continued support and cooperation in past engagements, emphasizing the union's commitment to supporting the new administration for the betterment of the people of Udenu. "We are here to assure you of our support as we work hand-in-hand for the progress of Udenu LGA," he stated, invoking a spirit of unity and mutual respect.


In his response, the Mayor — Akachukwu Eze acknowledged the importance of the Union in the Local economy and urged the members to remain vigilant against unsavory elements that could tarnish the Union’s image. "It is imperative for the NURTW to be security conscious and wary of touts and other unscrupulous elements who threaten the reputation and operations of the union," he stressed.


Chairman Aka also unveiled his plans for the redefinition of motor parks and vehicle loading pits across Udenu LGA, specifically focusing on the busy areas of Obollo Afor and Orba. He emphasized that these changes would not only improve orderliness but would also enhance the overall efficiency of transportation in the Area.


Addressing another critical concern, Aka discussed the issue of flooding around the areas surrounding State University of Medical and Allied Sciences (SUMAS), Igbo Eno, pinpointing the urgent need for intervention. He promised to engage the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in Enugu to address the deteriorating road conditions exacerbated by flooding, which has caused significant disruptions to residents' daily lives.


He also reiterated his resolve to attract the State Government's attention to the rehabilitation of road network linking Owerre Ezeorba and Orie Orba Market through Ejuona Orba. He gave assurance that Gov. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah 's administration is willing to embark on some road projects in Udenu immediately the rainy season ceases.


The meeting was attended by key members of the Local Government, including the Dr. Jude Okwudili, Hon. Onyekachi C. Ugwu, and Dr. Nnamdi Odoh, amongst others.


As the meeting concluded, both the Executive Chairman and the NURTW delegation reiterated their collaborative spirit and readiness to address the transportation needs and community challenges of Udenu, setting a hopeful tone for future engagements.
