In a significant stride towards enhancing education and healthcare infrastructure in Nkanu West Local Government Area, the Chairman, Hon. John Ogbodo, led an inspection of the ongoing construction of Smart Schools and Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres. The visit, which took place yesterday, saw Hon. Ogbodo in the company of his deputy, Mr. Friday Nnam, and several Ward Councilors. The team toured Akpugo Ward 1 to 5, Agbani Amurri Ward, and Amodu Ward, where these transformative projects are being implemented.

The Chairman expressed his deep appreciation for the vision and leadership of the Enugu State Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Mbah, commending his relentless efforts to modernize education and healthcare systems across the state. "Governor Mbah's commitment to development is evident in these projects, which will bring significant benefits to our communities once completed. We, as a local government, are ready to take full ownership and ensure their sustainability,” Hon. Ogbodo stated.

Also in attendance were Mr. Ozoemena Nwobodo Agbo, Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Nkanu West Local Government Council, and town engineers from the council. Their presence underscored the importance of these projects, which have the potential to uplift the quality of life for thousands of residents in Nkanu West.

The Smart Schools initiative is part of Governor Mbah's broader vision to provide cutting-edge educational facilities equipped with modern technology, enabling students to learn in a digital environment. This initiative is designed to align with global best practices in education, ensuring that students from rural and semi-urban areas have access to the same quality of education as those in more developed regions.

Equally notable is the construction of Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres in Nkanu West. These health facilities are integral to the governor's agenda of revitalizing the state's healthcare system, with a focus on providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare services. The Type 2 facilities are expected to deliver comprehensive primary healthcare services, including maternal and child care, immunization, and general outpatient services.

Governor Peter Mbah’s administration has prioritized health and education as key pillars of development. By aligning with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 on good health and well-being, the governor has positioned Enugu State as a leader in human capital development. His administration's commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is reflected in the robust construction and equipping of these health centres, ensuring that even the most remote communities in Nkanu West and beyond receive essential health services.

This project is a clear testament to Governor Mbah’s vision of building a resilient healthcare system that can effectively respond to the needs of the population. With the completion of these Smart Schools and healthcare centres, Nkanu West will witness unprecedented improvements in both educational and health outcomes.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Ogbodo reassured the people of Nkanu West of his administration’s dedication to working closely with the state government to ensure the swift completion of these projects. He added, "We are deeply grateful to Governor Peter Mbah for his foresight and determination to bring development to every part of the state, particularly in the critical sectors of education and healthcare. These projects will undoubtedly transform lives for generations to come."

The inspection tour marks yet another milestone in the ongoing efforts by the Enugu State Government to meet the developmental needs of its citizens, with Nkanu West standing as a prime beneficiary of these forward-thinking initiatives.
