ALGON Enugu Reelect Hon Sydney Okechukwu Edeh Chairman

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Enugu State Chapter has reelected Hon Sydney Okechukwu Edeh as chairman at the State Executive Council meeting held at ALGON secretariat in Enugu on Wednesday 16th, October 2024. Members of the association elected Hon Edeh the Chairman Nkanu East LGA , as their chairman. 

   In his acceptance speech, Ede expressed  gratitude to God and his colleagues for entrusting him with the leadership role.He applauded Governor for providing an examplary leadership which serves as a template for them 

   I am deeply honoured by this responsibility, and I assure you all that I will give my very best to further the cause of this great organization,” 

   He further pledged to run an open door policy, noting that the ALGON under him belong to all of them. He also called for unity among members, emphasising the need for cooperation to achieve their common goals. He added, “I appeal to all members to work together with  me to achieve the vision we all share for strengthening governance at the local level.” 

He charged his colleagues to do all things to support the disruptive agenda of His Excellency Barr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah who he said is a trailblazer and face of good governance in Nigeria.

  "The governor has taken the lead in providing good governance to our people and we cannot afford to fail or lag behind.

  " We need to go back to our various LGA and address security and other vices as to complement the efforts of the governor in eradicating insecurity in the state, he said" . 

Hon Edeh who is a member of national executive council of ALGON as deputy chairman was unanimously elected by his colleagues. Others elected to serve with him are Hon Ferdinand Ugwueze of Igbo south LGA,  and Hon Uche okoro of Awgu LGA as deputy chairman and secretary of ALGON Enugu State respectively. 

Hon Frank Anioma who represented the governor charged them to ensure transparency and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities. 

He also advised them to maintain decorum and uphold the trust placed in them by the people .

He congratulated the new officials on behalf of the state government and reiterated that the state will support them with everything possible to make sure they succeed. 

The new executives were sworn in by Barr Alexander Egbo. 

The election was witnessed 

by the Special Adviser to the Governor on political matters, Hon frank Anioma, Hon Okey Mbah, member representing Nkanu East at the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon Nnamdi Nwafor, zonal chairman of PDP in Enugu East senatorial district, Hon Patty Okoh, state Treasurer of people's democratic party, Hon Ejike Amedu, PDP chairman Igbo Eze south, among others.
