Enugu Former Perm Sec Heads Fundraising Committee for Borno Flood Disaster

Renowned Enugu philanthropist, Dr. Favour Ugwuanyi (mni), has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Borno State Relief Fundraising Committee. This appointment comes at a time when the people of Borno State are grappling with severe flooding that has ravaged homes, displaced thousands, and left many communities in despair.

Dr. Ugwuanyi, a figure well-known for her leadership and humanitarian efforts, is the founder of the FAN Foundation headquartered in the USA and currently serves as the Social and Welfare Secretary of the Alumni Association of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), also known as AANI. Her wealth of experience, having been the former Permanent Secretary in Enugu State and former Chairperson of the Post Primary School Management Board (PPSMB), positions her as the ideal leader to lead this urgent humanitarian effort.

The flooding in Maiduguri, Borno State’s capital, has caused widespread devastation, with loss of lives, properties, and the destruction of vital infrastructure. The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) has quickly rallied to provide aid, launching a coordinated fundraising and relief campaign aimed at bringing succor to the affected regions.

"This appointment is not just an honor but a call to action," Dr. Ugwuanyi stated upon her appointment. "We cannot turn a blind eye to the suffering of our fellow citizens. With this committee, we hope to rally support from Nigerians and the international community to help those who have lost everything."

The Relief Fundraising Committee, under her stewardship, has launched an appeal to individuals, corporate bodies, and other philanthropic organizations to contribute generously, either in cash or kind, towards alleviating the suffering of the flood victims.
