In keeping with his campaign promises and in line with global best practices on quality representation under the representative democracy like ours, the Senator representing Enugu West and Senate Minority Whip, Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu, a man who never for ones take for granted the trust, mandate given to him by his people, rather, sees it as a call to serve, on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, brought together his constituents, the good people of Enugu West, party or religious affiliation notwithstanding under one roof in a Town Hall Meeting to hear the detailed and chronological account of his performance for the past one year as their Senator and his plan for the future.
The Town Hall Meeting which was unique in every sense of it, had in attendance the representatives of the people of Enugu West Senatorial District from all walks of life. The government representatives, traditional rulers, artisans, market women, student groups, physically challenged, religious bodies, clergymen, youth organization, community leaders, different political party stakeholders, press men and women.
The Senator who could not hide his feelings for the opportunity given to him by his people to represent them at the upper chamber thanked his constituents immensely for their invaluable support, prayers and solidarity thus far, both during the campaign period, on the election day, and during the court proceedings that follows, which finally validated their mandate to the glory of God.
At the well organized and well attended event, the Senator presented to his constituents as expected his score card for the past one year which revolves on the pivotal mandate of legislature in a democratic government, which are, law making, representation and oversight. Under this arrangement, his achievements which he explicitly detailed covers the area of Motions/Bills he sponsored, his intervention in education, agriculture, infrastructure development, his legislative engagements, humanitarian services, youth empowerment, capacity building, etc.
He assured his constituents that as their Senator, he will relentlessly push, facilitate and lobby for federal government, ministries, agencies and commissions to execute a life changing and developmental projects in Enugu West, stating that in less than one month from now, more than twenty (20) construction sites will be kicking off in the District, thereby, turning Enugu West into a construction site, promising that no ward or community under his constituency will be left behind in his legislative agenda to make Enugu West greater.
Senator Ngwu promised to keep complimenting the outstanding performance of Enugu state governor, HE Dr. Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mba in the district in terms of infrastructural development and the likes. On this, he specially thanked the state governor for his developmental initiatives in the state, maintaining that His Excellency has made the work easy for him in many sectors like in education sector through his laudable SMART school initiative, infrastructural development, security, health care and others. Hence, he appreciated the synergy, the working relationship between the state government and his office, describing it as invaluable.
Earlier also in his presentation, the Senator equally paid a glowing tribute to his predecessor, the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Prof. Ike Ekweremadu, for softening the ground for him, laying the solid foundation in Enugu West Senatorial District through his landmark achievements that are everywhere in the zone, and equally giving him the strong voice and edge among his Distinguished colleagues, especially the first timers, courtesy of his legislative prowess and parliamentary dexterity exhibited as a high ranking member of the Senate for many years. He prayed God to perfect his freedom and return soon.
On the abandoned projects, the Senator promised to do all he can within his powers to bring contractors back to site in all the abandoned federal government projects in Enugu West. The projects include the multi-purpose Ivo River Dam, Mgbowo Dam and so many other critical infrastructure already awarded by the federal government of Nigeria in the zone. In the same vein, he promised to continue with the Water for All initiative initiated by Distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremadu in Enugu West. Stating that with such lofty initiative and in partnership with the State government, Enugu West will not in any way lack that basic need of life, water.
Among other things the Senator made the constituents to know that they're already in the pipeline and to see the light of the day soon include the integrated farm produce market to be sited in Aninri LGA, provision of massive solar lights in the constituency, and provision of JAMB examination centers across all the local governments under Enugu West amongst others.
With his intentional dedication and view of quality representation and optimization of service delivery up to the grassroots as he promised during his campaign, Senator Ngwu implored the constituents to continue to maximize the unfeathered access and his open door policy representation, either through his phone number, his office at the National Assembly complex, Abuja, or through his constituency offices in all the five (5) LGAs which open every working day with seasoned constituency managers (SSA Constituency Matters) always on ground to receive their complaints, inquiry or input for upward and immediate transmission to him. He said that he's in Abuja to represent their interest, hence they'll do well to call his attention through the above channels on anything, whether it's personal or a communal matter so far it's something that deserves his attention cum intervention.
When it got to the question and answer session which offers the Senator an ample opportunity to assess first hand the various community needs. A lot of people were given the opportunity to ask varying degrees of questions, ranging from infrastructural development, human capital development, the prospect of job opportunities, education related matter, skill acquisition, quality heath care, etc. And in all the questions put to him, Senator Ngwu did justice to them. He provided his constituents with satisfactory answers, with its attendant applause and ovation from the crowd.
At the end, the constituents judged the event a success, praying God to imbue their Senator with more wisdom and strength in piloting the affairs of Ndi Enugu West at the National level, praying he will maintain the trajectory of effective and quality representation as he has exhibited so far.

Uchenna Ugwu, member representing Oji River, Awgu, Aninri Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Anayo Onwuegbu (Omiheukwu), member representing Udi, Ezeagu Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Sunday Cyriacus Umeha, represented by his Chief of staff, Hon. Prince Obinna, member representing Awgu South and Deputy Minority Leader of Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jane Eneh, member representing Ezeagu State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Barr. Chima Obieze, member representing Udi South State Constituency, Hon. Okechukwu Hyacinth Aneke, member representing Oji River State Constituency, Hon. Osita Eze, member representing Awgu South State Constituency, Hon. Anthony Nwankwo.
Other dignitaries were the Enugu State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Barr. Loyd Ekweremadu, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Barr. (Dame) Ugochi Madueke, the Grand patron of Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM, Igwe Ambassador L.O.C Agubuzo, the Anglican Bishop of Awgu Diocese, Most Rev. Chukwunwike, the Catholic Bishop of Awgu Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye, represented by Rev. Dr. Jacob Amaechi, the PRO Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide, Ozo Dr. Chigozie Ogbonnia (Ozowaluonaa), the Chairman and Chief Executive Enugu State Capital Territory Development, Hon. Uche Anya, the immediate past Chairman and Chief Managing Director ESWAMA, Chief Mrs Amaka Anajemba, the PDP State Secretary, Hon. C.C Akalusi, and many other dignitaries.
Indeed, with this feat, (successful hosting of the first year anniversary Town Hall Meeting by Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu), we are witnessing a new era of politics here. And no doubt, it's a testimony, a testament of fact on the accountability and transparency of Senator Engr Osita Ngwu (Abia ike n'eti), to his constituents in his capacity as their Senator. Senator Ngwu has shown capacity. He has set the pace for others to follow. And, Enugu West are saying, Life Is good With RG. Our Senator, Our Pride.
Greater Enugu West is the mandate.
